Yes, I have the NPCU in game with no game crashing at this time.
You need to download the FP40 from UKTS Rail Simulator selection in the File Library Search. The File is UKTS_22217_F40PH_Amtrak. It installs to the same DRB_SimStuff folder, sub-folder Diesel with its own folder named FP40PH. Ensure you put the F40_mapper.bin from that download into the Kuju/RailSimulatorCore/InputMappers.
Also place the NPCU folder (sound files) from the first file download (Cascades V2.0 from Lukrail) into Kuju/RailsimultorUS/Audio/RailVehicles/Diesel.
Check the boxes on DRB_SimStuff then NA in the Properties Menu. It should appear in the Browser menu as Amtrak Cascades NPCU (90252). There is also a entry in the menu called F40PH P5 Amtk (90216)_MT. Ignore that one. It will not appear in game for various reasons.
I have test operated the NPCU and there is no engine sound. You cannot work the Controls with the mouse but the keyboard works fine. Air Gauges and Speedometer work. Looks like the Load Indicator does not. Only the Number Boards and gauges light at night. There is absolutely no other lights on the model, not even red tail lights for trail operations. Also no Cab Light. I made a No Driver type and it tests the same. Use the Cascades Engine F40PHengine_simp.bin if you want to do the same.
Now the author of the original F40PH model is the same guy who made the Freeware GP15 models. His models are three types. Exp is the expert driving controls, Simp is the simplified controls, and Trail is the driverless trailing unit. The NPCU appears to be a Simp Model as the brakes are simple to operate.
Now if you're thinking why not clone the Simp F40PH into a NPCU, change a few text lines and drop the current NPCU textures into that clones folder and voila, we have a NPCU with a headlight. Simple answer is no. The F40PH model the NPCU is based on has a horrific headlight texture that makes the original Rail Works headlights look awesome.
One thing I am pursuing is getting the Power Car to appear. That car was made to be the trail unit for a Cascade consist. It has the other set of "fins" and matches the last coaches shared bogie configuration. If I cannot get the little heathen to see the light then I am entertaining the idea of just dropping the texture on the Baggage car and use it turned around on the consist. I am currently using a turned around Baggage on the end of the consist to simulate the Power Car.
Here is the WSDOT (Wiz-Dot) site with information on what makes up a Cascades consist to help everyone build a realistic consist.
