Ground Crew perspective shows features in TSW not found in Train Simulator. The video also demonstrates why TSW is awesome for switching. As of now the Heavy Haul Route offer little in the way of switching opportunities. Too bad.

You can do that on the ground with the 8 view in TrainSimulator.

Been throwing switches and manually uncoupling cars since I bought Railworks in 2009.

Just not as glitzy.

Yup, do it all the time. 8 key is the handiest little gadget going for switching and I use it when stopping a passenger train so the platform gets positioned with the right coaches.

He's done a few other videos for TSW which show some other highlights. Here's another one. Its unfortunate that this sim hasn't been improved upon since its introduction.

In TrainSimulator you can move the camera anywhere and with the 8 key you will be set free at that location. In TSW when you hit the 8 key it teleports you to way out in front of the train. Really annoying. But from there you are free.

Minor to some but significant to me is the knuckle couple. The US knuckle couple is an awesome invention in train history. In TrainSimulator the couplers are automatic when coupling just like with model trains. In TSW the knuckles are locked and must be unlocked to couple.

Also significant to me is the camera 3 in TSW. It is bound to the train but you can move it to a ladder of any car and ride along. It lets you pivot (rotate) your view from that location. I love this. I can now ride cars the way they should be ridden.

Thanks for watching,

Gene

This is the one feature I've been missing every time I've played TS.

The word you wanted is "perspective", Gene, not "perceptive", which means that they are aware of their surroundings.

!!howdy!! It's what former English majors do after retirement, Gene. Well, that and pretend to drive trains.
