Using AC4400's IFD part two

Unread postby _o_OOOO_oo-Kanawha » Tue Mar 21, 2017 12:13 pm

While seated at the control desk of the AC4400 press Left Arrow key and the IFD will come in full view
Notice you can now clearly read the "Touch Screen" buttons on the IFD screen.

Press the Right Mouse button to toggle between "Target Dot" and "IFD" mode

Notice when you move your mouse over the top row of brighter yellow keys below the screen, there will appear a gizmo "IFD Function 1 thru 8" and
when you move your mouse over the bottom row of darker yellow keys, there will appear a gizmo "IFD Digit 0 thru 9"
The actual operation of the touch screen is done by pressing the keys (a right mouse click).

The function of each of the yellow keys corresponds with the light blue touch screen button in the screen, and they change with the feature selected:

Here is the default layout after giving the IFD your focus of attention:

Press F1 "IFD Button 1" to bring up the Hump Control menu screen:

Click the corresponding yellow keys to make the power adjustment and toggle hump control on/off with F1 "IFD Function 1"; F8 "IFD Function 8" closes the menu

Press F2 "IFD Button 2" to bring up the Slow Speed Control menu screen:

Click the corresponding yellow keys to make the speed adjustment and toggle slow speed on/off with F1 "IFD Function 1"; F8 "IFD Function 8" closes the menu.

Though the IFD operation is not difficult once you get the hang of it, it would have been more logical IMO if the blue touch screen buttons could be "pressed" instead of the yellow keys. If those IFD's are touch screens, otherwise the yellow keys are the main input.

I don't know yet how the Trainline Sand works, I presume this is for m.u. or DPU use to have all units in your consist sand the rails or just the lead axle of the lead locomotive when you use the sander.
