Service Mode. But you can only pick on foot, GP38-2, SD40-2, AC44, weather, location, and type of train.

How do you mean "pick on foot"?

I imagine he means that instead of just clicking on an enabled engine and finding yourself magically in the cab, you have to "walk" to your choice, climb its steps, open the cab door, etc. It may all seem a bit silly at first, but of course it's much more realistic, when you think about it. And once you figure out how to move around comfortably (mind you, I haven't quite achieved that yet), it makes sense.

I mean you can spawn on foot, instead of being in an engine.

Can you spawn your pretty self everywhere at will? Are there teleport locations? Or does one needs to hike through the woods or hitch a ride on a passing train to get to the next control point?
It would be nice to sit in the brakeman's seat while the engineer and conductor on duty drive the train to the place where you'll get off.

Well, you could hike if you wanted to. *!lol!*

In simple terms, the best way to start out is to look at the timetable on the final page of the manual. This gives service times at the key locations from which you can then go to service mode, select 'Spawn Walking' and then select your time and location, of which there are quite a few. You should then spawn at the chosen point and the train will either be there or be due to arrive depending on your time chosen.

I suppose it depends what you want to do. My son doesn't want to drive all the time, so as an example he set it at Rockwood Mine at 11:15am and a service was arriving when you spawn. He just wanted to hitch a ride with the crew. It's a new aspect such as this which is keeping him busy, he's now trying to work out other spawn points where he can do a similar thing.

Can you son please do a video of the ride with the other crew, or post some screenshots?

If you are tired of walking you can change the default to run in the settings.

In settings, click on the controller icon and near the bottom the default action.
