Yes and no. It depends on the version gap. For example, when the game went from UE 4.14 to the actual one, the textures stopped working propperly, and I had to re-export them to the new version. But if the game goes from the actual version (4.16?) to 4.18 for example, the textures will work, I checked it.

As I said, it all depends on the gap.

Which version have you currently packed it with? I've tried 4.20, 4.17.3, 4.15.3 and 4.16.3 and none of them have worked. The texture gets rejected every single time. Also what are you repacking it with? The "-create" parameter for UnrealPak? According to the CookedIni file in the main PAK, it seems Heavy Haul needs 4.16.0 which is no longer available. I tried disabling the version limiting for this. No dice.

This was supposed to be a BN Autorack but the game rejects it and uses the "T_BiLevelAutorack_Body_M" texture in place of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

May be encrypting is a bad idea as every time it had to be decrypt and then read and will consume much processing power.

I don't know any way of doing that. I think it simply can't be done.

You have the typical "rainbow issue" as I call it xD. It's very common, so don't worry at all *!!wink!!*.

First, I cook the textures with the 4.16.3, and it works perfectly as you can see.
As soon as I can I will explain in detail how all the process works, but first I want to upload the mod here and then make the video.

But if you want a quick answer, I can tell you that I cook the textures with the Unreal Editor. You just have to create a "fake" project with the edited textures inside, and cook it. Then, with the created .pak inside the resulting project, you have to extract the uassets to put them in the properly folder of the game. Then create the new .pak and paste it into the game. I hope I've helped you, good luck!

You can make an encrypted PAK file by using the "-encrypt" parameter on UnrealPak.exe. I'll try to find a link on how to use it.

That worked! Rebuilt the PAK with 4.16.3 and it loaded perfectly! This is the final product, still a few touch-ups to do! I can upload the acutal Uassets to RWA if that's okay with the staff since uploading the whole PAK would be illegal.

The million dollar question that I don't see as having been asked in this thread, have you discovered how to add this mod as a livery repaint option instead of replacing one of the current engines? I feel that will be an important step for our community to create and release new engines for the different railroads.

I also did my researchs about the topic, with no results. It seems that it's impossible for now, so we just have to wait for the content manager.

Almost forgot... I uploaded the mod yesterday! Waiting for approval! !!*ok*!!

It would be nice if there could be an easy way to publish skins for different liveries that could be posted here, or even to the Steam Workshop. I was looking at a game called Bus Simulator 18 that also uses the Unreal 4.18 engine and there are already skins and decals on the Steam Workshop available. Obviously, the limitations are not on the Unreal Engine.

You can just swap between .paks it's very simple!

For now, that is what we will have to do. Hopefully someone can figure out how to add liveries without publishing the whole model. We know that DTG released the YN2 and YN3b liveries to several engines. Once we can add more, it will be great. In the meantime, we will just have to sacrifice one of the existing liveries to add any mods.

In my case, I didn't plublished the whole model, just the edited textures inside the .pak
Publishing the entire model just to modify its textures it's completely unnecesary.
