What Is there going to be to do on a route that sees little to no traffic? am I wrong about this?

I guess you will just have to wait and see.

"Little to no traffic" is not an accurate representation of this line in my opinion. There are two frequently running trains on this branch, the potash trains to and from the mine, and the uranium mill dump site cleanup operations at Moab. Both have been confirmed as included in the DTG forum.

The branch is some 30 miles or so long at slow speeds, plus a bit of mainline running at the north end (Brendel to Thompson Springs), so simply by the nature of the line you're already looking at many hours of gameplay just for a single "round trip" with both trains.

Cheers,
Michael

This is a concept largely lost nowadays to get the facts and then make a judgement. Lost in far more areas than our little simulator world however you are absolutely correct about this.

Everyone is an expert Buzz *!!wink!!* - I know that's a fact because I heard about it from a guy who saw a Youtube video posted by someone who read about it on a tweet...

Route looks good :D

Kind of a long video, but it shows the route pretty good

Not a very good video. Virtually no train running. The guy is basically nitpicking.

The whole point is to showcase the route.

LOL, over at the Steam forums they are already going full cut throat over this route.

And with some good reason, it looks nice but ...

.... those pee poor sounds of the big GE again ...

.... trundling through a landmark deserted canyon at 25 MpH for an hour without any diversion? Not even a single eagle in the sky, rows of street lamps along empty roads in one of the least populated areas of the state?

It is probably a fingers exercise of this new developer. Not for me.

I guess the nearly 2 million tourists each year who visit Moab and the Arches National Park for the spectacular scenery just come to be bored "without any diversion." Gosh, no street lamps or eagles.

"Finger exercise." Hardly. The Cane Creek route was selected in part based on the concept that the Moab area's extraordinary scenery would be a great match for TSW2's graphic capabilities and indeed Skyhook came through in flying colors ... a fact that is also being extensively commented on by the community but that you ignore mentioning.

As for operational elements, there's the matter of ascending and descending multiple 1.2 grades, switching and/or loading at Potash, Brendel, and Moab, operating two types of locomotives (including DPU use for the GEs), handling the potash and "dirty dirt" trains, and a bit of main line running.

While this is a good point to bring up, This is a simulator, you can convey the sheer awe and beauty of a piece of land or a mountain that is larger than life through a computer screen. you don't get to breathe the fresh crisp canyon air and feel the rumble of the train. all you are doing is going *click* on your keyboard every once and a while to keep the speed in control. while i say the route is marginally better than what I expected, i don't feel like this route was a great choice for the platform. either commuter operations or small switching operations that keep the user engaged and an active participant in the game is what is needed for this sim.

NO single route is ever going to appeal to everyone, which is why variety is a good thing. Unfortunately, there are some who seem to believe that any route that does not suit their particular tastes is thus fair game to be trashed. For example: I will much more enjoy running Cane Creek that racing about on a TGV route, but that in no way means the TGV route is either a wrong choice nor a product to be poked at.

For those interested in seeing the real route without having to travel to the real route... check out this Delay in Block video on Utah railfanning. Starting at 24:52 they have a few segments on chasing a potash train on the Cane Creek. It was filmed back in 2016. The narrator gives some background on the line. Pretty interesting stuff.

Here is a patch to take away some of the biggest flaws : https://mods.trainsimcommunity.com/mods ... logo-patch

it says logo patch, but patches many other kinds of things. There are still lots of floating rocks remaining, but all this treasure for the Konsole Kids to collect is also very important.

Not all kids use consoles there are lots of adults who use them. I can actually see consoles overtaking PCs for the preferred gaming choice due to the overpriced graphics cards which I cannot afford. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is due to come out on the latest Xbox which cost about $700 NZ far better than paying 2 or 3 thousand $ just for a graphics card alone. BTW I'm not a kiddie but into my 70s.
