Problem with lighting in new route

I just set up a new route with RW tools, and everything in the route (including the terrain) is appearing very dark compared to other routes. In contrast, in routes like Sherman Hill, everything lighting related appears to be optimised.

In the direct route setup, I clicked advanced, and left the sky fields empty, only adding the long/lat and the other info in the box above.

Have I bungled the setup here? How do I get the terrain to appear lighter, like it should on a sunny day?

Change the season and the weather?

I forgot to mention that changing the season via the scenario editor to Spring lightens up the ground a tiny bit, but the sky looks terrible. It may be a problem with the TimeOfDay settings, but it's an area of Railworks that I have virtually no experience with. Does Railworks have a default provider reference when the sky fields are left blank?

Has anyone else had the ground appear too dark when setting up a new route? Maybe i could try setting up the route via the blueprint editor, since it's terrain only at this point.

Looks like the individual .bin files in RailSimulatorCore/TimeOfDay that it references by default might be the cause of the issue. Replacing all 4 of these entries in the bin file in templateroutes with default.xml seems to correct the problem. However, if I'd read the dev docs covering route blueprints to begin with, this would have helped too :D
