Sherman Hill vehicles encrypted?

Unread postby NDORFN » Wed Nov 28, 2012 3:40 am

Making my own traffic ribbons etc...

I can get a tractor from the RailSimulator folder to work no worries...

This is gonna be handy later when I have a few plowing fields trackside... cool.

Unfortunately when I try to use any of the vehicles from Sherman Hill I get weird colours telescoping perpendicular to where the vehicle should be travelling...

Could they be encrypted or something to stop people like me using them? Or am I doing something wrong? Definately double checked everything and doing exactly the same for the SH vehicles as I am the RailSimulator and RailSimulatorUS vehicles. Gotta be to do with the .GeoPcDx in SH !*don-know!*

On the same topic, in the U.S expressways and multi-laned highways etc... are the faster lanes closer to the medium barrier or the shoulder?

Those lines usually indicate a problem with the shape, possibly one that has edge mapping issues. See if the same shape is available in the older US assets, which should be able to use the newer textures from SH.

The lane closest to the median is the fast lane.

Cheers Marc. "median" barrier... that's what I meant *!embar*!

Any idea why sounds won't work on scaleroad traffic ribbons? I've played around for an hour or so editing the vehicle bins, even swapped them out with the Kuju ones so they're essentially identical but no go !*don-know!* There's potential to use more realistic and vehicle-specific .davs if it worked.

The vehicle files that came with Scaleroads were missing the audio control path and the Kuju files were a mess. I've made my own traffic ribbons which reference .bins for vehicles which are actually named something relevent like "Red_Saloon" instead of "CajonPass_WP_18_01" *!rolleyes!* and set up the audio in my developer folder for them. Basically I just tidied things up a bit. I have no idea what purpose Kuju have for thier abstract file naming etc. Keep it simple I reckon.

The only thing I haven't included with the my route is the shape file and .davs for the vehicle, just so I don't get in trouble. !!*ok*!!

I'm uploading a video of the results. It's kind of cool, nothing spectacular but you can see the potential for some pretty cool sounding traffic.
