Ground textures missing

Unread postby NDORFN » Thu Oct 18, 2012 12:35 am

I installed TS2013 today. Imported my route. There are no ground textures. Anyone know how to fix this?

Does your route alias the US or UK kuju textures, or did you make your own copy for your route?

My blueprint is pointing to the Kuju Railsimulator ones.

You may need make sure you have it, and verify your cache if you don't. Its no longer part of the "core game", so it may have been lost in the shuffle.

Oh crap. It's gone. Verifying cache won't help because I downloaded the WHOLE lots today... all 16gig! I guess I'll have to try directing the blueprint elsewhere and hope it works. I'm having all sorts of problems... missing sections of track, objects missing (not because they aren't installed but because the reference to them ever having been there is gone ie. not even milk bottles), traffic ribbons not producing traffic. I'll gonna give this a couple of days and if it's too much hassle I'm gonna join the SMM Digital club.

I pointed it in the direction of the Castle Rock textures and it works. Not the right colour textures but atleast I know I can alias whatever set most closely suits. It mysteriously fixed the missing track problem too !*don-know!* Hate it when something goes right but you don't know why! !**conf**!

For ground textures you should start working on making your own private copy for the route. This adds a lot of flexibilit, especially when you add textures from the UKTS pack. I have a how to on my blog that covers most of that. For track I would switch over to scale rail exclusively. RW_tools has a tutorial on how to switch the track over.

Doing both of these will divorce you from most of kuju.

I'm going to take up your advice on making my own textures blueprint. I'm already using scalerail with my own track rules so that's ok. I had to use two different track rules to achieve two different extremes of cant in superelevation.

I recommend against using two rules. Make a private copy of the scale rail track rule and adjust it to you liking. I have a post about that as well.

You do know that SR supports super elevation now?

I didn't know that. I had to modify it using parameters from Horseshoe Curve. It all works perfectly though.

That's OK. As long as your rules are private and not aliased you'll be safe from future updates (which you can always add later yourself.)

Morning Papa (well it's morning here anyway). Just checking out your blog. It's pretty good! Can you please tell me where to find the tutorial on creating a texture set for a route? Cheers !!*ok*!!

Start here:
http://thegradecrossing.blogspot.com/20 ... to-cc.html

Links to the other pages are at the bottom. This set is by far the most popular on my blog, you will also see links to them on right column.

The one post I have on track rules is here:
http://thegradecrossing.blogspot.com/20 ... rules.html

I never did publish the other tutorial I did on how to covert the track in a route to something different, I may if you really need it (I think RW_Tools has one).
