The station platform had to be 4 feet high and close to the rails for wheelchair access on the commuter trains. Freight trains would hit the edge of the platform so this gauntlet track was built to prevent that.

I experimented with Scalerail, and found that you can indeed do this. I signalled it with a short single head. Set it up to show green for the main and slow approach (blinking red) for the sideout. I haven't any use for it right now, but it's nice to know it works.

Some time ago I made this test

Is a dual gauge track: broad gauge (1676mm) and narrow gauge (1000). The narrow gauge is a track with only one rail. I use the offset tool to lay it.
