tile elevation displacement

I'm blithely going along scenicing and suddenly notice that a couple of tiles have shifted up in elevation. A river is now buried, and track is now many feet below ground. Neither the river nor the track shifted height, just the tile they were on. Any ideas how I can correct this? And also, how did I cause this!?

The only way I know to undo this is to restore the tile from a backup. Last resort is to replace that tile with the original one generated when you loaded the terrain. Of course, that requires re-doing your terrain work (Snap-to-track and other sculpting) for that tile.

Sorry to see it happen to you; it's one of those quirks that perhaps no one will ever know the cause. To everyone building a route, it can never be stressed enough... backup, backup, backup, backup, backup...

I had the same problem. I ended up removing what tracks I had and then restoring the terrain tiles. The damage may not be as bad as you think.

Thanks for the replies. Now I just need to figure out how to identify which tile it is. I guess that's going to be in the editor somewhere. I'll look.

You can find the tile number in the lower left hand corner of the screen in the editor.

thanks again. Everything restored, and I'm a happy camper indeed. I had a backup from the day before, and don't have to make any changes to the track or the river. Awesome.
