Obrian's Conrail Shared Assets Route

Unread postby qrfan3 » Fri Jul 19, 2024 8:42 pm

Okay.... a little history first.
I have worked a little with Obrian on his NS Mobile Route and Ann Arbour. In my opinion this Route is the cream of the crop, therefore it needs to be continued. Where Obrian is or what has happened is a mystery and hopefully he may appear. I have a pm in my outbox that has not moved in over a month and no response from another contact to him, so my intentions are to Upgrade the Route.
I have started to clean up, fix, add content to this Route to reach a goal I have set. So far I have not and will not change what Obrian has laid down and will en-devour to keep the same trend.
I will continue to add an update progress file as changes are made with the new update installs. At this stage of the future updates I will only concentrate on track speeds, siding names, and clean ups of some placed Assets and some new scenery. Signalling ( already Installed on mains ) will be checked at a later date and maybe dark area signals added for AI Interaction in Scenarios.
As for speed conditions for mainline track hopefully Obrian has it right..as i cannot find reference to such on the net.

What has been done so far:

1:-Created a new Provider Folder named Obrian in the Assets tree to cater for new Marker files, TrackRule ....etc
2:-Added new diesel and sanding servicing facilities at the Sterling Yards.
3:-Added Cadillac Oils Industry on mainline CP East CN Main 2 track to Conner Creek Portal.
4:-Place the new Amtrak Detroit Station with workable Passenger Service.
5:-Starting removing 79 mph crossovers, track and turnouts as this Route only has a maximun speed of 50 mph ( Passenger ). Completed the area from Utica to North end of the Sterling yards fully and some other areas where a lot of 79 mph track was located.
6:-Replaced manual junctions only on Main lines with Automatic units. This will aid AI and Player use in Scenarios. Approx completed area from Utica to North end of the Sterling yards.
7:-Created 3 Standard Scenarios ( approx 10 min each ) to visit the newly installed scenery as shown by pictures below. Default rolling stock used, so no special downloads.

As my install was originally the same as what you have, you will have to remove / delete or store your version before installing this update as it has changed in many ways.
The download file is a .7z file, extract as you would normally and then install the .rwp file using the Package Manager within the TS Classic Utilities. If you have any troubles with the download let me know.

If you see or find any issues with the area I completed from Utica to Sterling Yards please let me know here on this thread.
Thank you......enjoy

It is a great route and deserves to be completed although it is a big job. Power to your elbow and thanks for taking it on.

Ironically, I'm working on the CSAO in NJ. It's nice to see the other half of CSAO being represented.

Was just curious, but is this route here the same route as this one that’s on trainsimcommunity? https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/ ... t-division

Yes, there is only one Route of this area by Obrian. It was conceived here but for some reason he went and gave it to the trainsim community, why?...who knows except Obrian.
This is an update and modification of such Route.

Oh well.....Steam has caught up with me and made my login to my games impossible. I run Win 8.1 Pro and steam does not cater or run with such Win 7, Win 8, OS's as of January this year. I can run every other program available worldwide and do so as smooth as silk. Conclusion....I have to upgrade to Win 10 or 11. I was going to eventually upgrade to Win 12 when it came out.....but alas this won't happen until the fall of next year.
Money is tight being a pensioner so it will be a little while before I get on track again.

Cheers.... !*cheers*!

Anyway, here is a WIP view of what I have done so far:

Oakwood Yard ( NS ) completely relaid and finished.....( that was a big project ).
Schaefer Yard ( GTW ) completely relaid but no siding names yet.
Advance Yard ( Conrail ) finished.
Lincoln Yard ( Conrail ) newly laid track and siding names.
Ford Rouge Complex track laid but no siding names yet.
Detroit Salt and Marathon Petroleum completed.

Upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 11 is more challenging than upgrading to Windows 10. This is because Windows 11 imposes much stricter hardware requirements, including a Trusted Platform Module TPM or a CPU with TPM enabled Bios and the Secure Boot option set in the BIOS, two items that are unlikely to be available on older Windows 8.1 PCs. This may require a complete system upgrade. A minimum of Windows 11 is inevitable so I would bypass 10 entirely.

Obrian has made it a little hard to lay this Route down correctly, so it's been a struggle sometimes. His long / lat coordinates are way out and puts the origin of this Route over the other side of the country close to the border between Oregon and California. I tried to set it up right, but gave up.

I have not abandoned this Route, definitely not...I had a serious heart condition which required a stent. As a pensioner I do not have/afford private medical so the costs drained my spare monies.
Be assured...I will get there.
