Route template change

Unread postby RAILSOHIO » Tue Mar 19, 2024 12:36 pm

So in my continuing quest to improve my route so it can eventually be released,I have the following thought. I am aware that there is a tutorial on the Grade Crossings blogspot about editing the texture set. When I first created my route in 2011,I first chose the USA template. But that was all southwestern desert scenery. So I started over with the Kuju European set,as it was more lush. I am now in love with the B&O Mtn Sub,and wonder if there is a way to edit the blueprint to uses those properties. I am aware that I would need to re texture all of it,except for the base texture. I did search online before posting this, and it does not look promising.

This is odd that you're asking exactly what I've been trying to do. I too created a route around the New Orleans area and used the default. I made a copy of the route, then created a new route in TSC using the new template with the same start point. Then using the RWMerge I'd merge the copy with the new route. In practice it worked, but i got to eger and for somereason the program doesn't work. I keep getting an error it can't find the serz..

Thank you for your reply. I am also considering making a copy of the route, then starting a new route with the new template, but the exact same starting coordinates. It seems that if you merged/overwrote the proper files it could be done. I am not sure that I understood what your results were.

The first time I did it, I made the new route with the MIami temp. I set the same start location as my own route. I started TSC, went to the editor and started the google overlay to confirm. The route marker was in the same location on th enew route as the original. Then using the RWroute merge, i set the new route as route A and the copy as the route B, the merge went as expected and all the files were merge (overwritten).

Then I got cocky and wanted to try it with the Livonia route, for some reason although i followed the same steps from scratch the merge failed, I started getting the "can't find serz.exe" message.

There may be hope for this process. My old route has too much clutter in it. Every time I downloaded and tried out a new asset,I did it on MY route. Now I just check it out in Test Track. I may PM you with some questions, when I decide to tackle this. Joe
