The Loss of a Great - TNTrainer

It is hardly my place to make this announcement, but I know many of you on this forum enjoyed the tips, questions, and screenshots, and even youtube videos, of 'TNTrainer'. Authenticity to L&N and NC&StL always seemed his goal on Train Simulator. I cannot speak for everyone here, but I always enjoyed his posts here, and his videos. Outside of train simulator he was an amazing railwayman and a splendid preservationist. It was a privilege to know him, and in what little non-hectic time he had, so inquire with him about the many things he had done, from running Southern 4501 at 68 MPH (a speed record for a freight Ms Mikado), to leading so many projects at TVRM's shops, he was always there and always had the answer. Today his final orders were called, and he headed for that roundhouse in the sky. My absolutely deepest sympathies to his family, who are also involved in the railway preservation world.

I just figured I would let everyone here know, even though I feel it not my place. This is in no way anything official, just my attempt to pay tribute to a man I enjoyed in the real world and the train simulator world. In train simulator his route building was unmatched, his foliage and routes looked perfect to their real life L&N/NC counterparts from his childhood.

I always thought of him when Kalamazoo ran this L&N E8, and told him of that one time. (The unit was painted maroon in Kalamazoo and only gained the L&N paint scheme after leaving Michigan, for any rivet counters). Behind are some of the cars from the railway museum and heritage railway where he was General Manager, and so much more. For over 40 years he was always a part, and got the job done.

Please accept my deepest sympathies PullmanCar. I never got to meet George or talk to him outside this forum, but his joy and love for trains was obvious and he’ll be greatly missed. I look forward to one day meeting him at that roundhouse in the sky.
