Hi all,

So I need a bit of guidance here...

I'm starting to work on scenery in the Harrisburg Area...(yeah my route is stretching all the way out there now) and I'm trying to figure out what is the best types of trees to represent all the different ones out there but not make it too crazy. I am looking at views from the main street bridge overlooking Enola Yard and I can't figure out what kind of trees I'm looking at in the street views. I'm trying to be at least semi-accurate to give the effect of what it's like on the ground. I have a few routes in my arsenal and haven't quite figured out which ones to go with.

Routes are:
NJCL
B&O Mountain Sub
Steven's Pass
Marias Pass
SAD
Racetrack route
Sherman Hill
Penn Coal

Any guidance will be appreciated.

North-Eastern/Appalachian environment should be your guidance.

Based on the listed routes: B&O Mountain Sub, Penn Coal.

Check the Scenery and/or Vegetation folders and compare their contents. You'll find lots of shapes being shared/reused in many DLC.

Plant a few rows of each and judge for yourself how they look in different season settings.

There should be more free vegetation from SAD too.

Just avoid any trees that grow in high altitude, high latitude or desert environments, i.e. most coniferous, unless your route has high mountains

if you're considering Mountain Sub just for the trees, I'd recommend to take a closer look at Wayne Campbell's Columbia Valley Pacific route (here in the file library) first. It's freeware and includes many truly beautiful trees (several of which were also included on Mountain Sub, alongside a few others).
