TS is Shutdown

Unread postby rphilips » Sun Sep 30, 2018 3:44 am

I have been working on a new route. I had been working on it off and on for quite sometime. The last time I was trying to rotate an object and the editor kept rotating the object nonstop. I pressed the run button and everything went into the run mode with no problems. I went back into the edit mode and the curser was still rotating nonstop. I got out of the editor going back to the run mode and then quit the program. Later I tried to start the program and I got a TempDemp message. Now every time I try to run Train Sim it generates a TempDump error, I tried looking at the TempDump but it can't be read directly. I re-installed the program (TS2015), and the problem still remained. I am now looking for someone who can help me fix this problem and have some questions. I also installed TS2016 with the same problems.

First, is there any way to read a TempDump message?
Second, would being able to read the message, help me fix the problem?

So as of now I cannot run any version of TS until I can figure out how to fix the problem.

Can someone help me?

I would try removing the route you were editing by copying it, then deleting it from the route folder. Once that's done I'd try to restart the game and see what happens. You may have an asset file that is messed up and causing the game to Dump.

Here is some additional info I found googling the issue:

Just wanted to chip in here and say that this is definitely down to an error in one of your blueprints.

Enable LogMate (i'm sure there are instructions around here to do it!) and then look to see what the last thing it was doing was before it crashed - you'll most likely find it's working through one of your asset folders. Clean that folder out (move files to somewhere else) and re-test. Once you've got a working system, start dropping assets in one at a time until it breaks again and then, is possible, send us the file that breaks it so we can find out why - alternatively let us know what it is and where you got it from so we can source it ourselves if it is commercial content.

I resolved a couple of folks problems last weekend by doing this and can confirm it is the cause of this issue."

I had a similar issue with my route when I was working on it. Every time I would do something in the route the game would do a dump of some kind. Either a TempDump or memory dump. I was getting so frustrated, so on a whim I decided to clone the route. Lo-and-behold everything worked in the clone. So something in the original file got corrupted. I would see if cloning would work if you could get the game opened. Once you get the clone, back up that file so at least you have a known working copy.

I have removed TS15 and installed TS16. So the only the routes that come with TS16 are installed. Everything is set to the original condition. I tried to run the program and the same TempDunp error occurs. So there must be something that is not TS dependent. Could a problem that occurred in TS, cause something in the registry to get changed so that no version of TS would ever work. I did a scan on the registry looking for Railworks or Train Simulator and a got a lot of hits. The problem is I have no idea what should be in the registry.

Re: TS is Shutdown - Update

The problem have be solved. Whether I solved the problem or Microsoft solved the problem. we will probably never know.

I got TS2018 and then Microsoft offered an update (Version 1809), which I did a clean install. After everything I needed was reinstalled and were working properly I installed TS2018, things began to work again. The only thing is that I had to start my routes from scratch. Everything is working normally. The only thing is that TS2018 have different scenery and I have to look around to find what I want to use. It will probably take me months to get to the place I was several weeks ago, but I am back to my favorite hobby.

Thanks to those that provided input.

If you have a Steam account, you can copy the key into the product activation field, and it will download it with the relevant updates installed at times. Once it's done, it should update to TS2019.
