Raton Pass V2

Unread postby thegevo5k » Sun Sep 02, 2018 10:45 pm

Hey everyone!

As soon as Raton Pass came out, I was hyped, but also disappointed. I began reworking the route as soon as I got the chance to test it. I have already track swapped, reworked the track rule, and added brand new crossings north of Trinidad.

Despite the route looking pretty dry in the game, I have given some of the vegetation some saturation for a variety of colors. Some of these crossings are pretty inaccurate, but that will be fixed later on down the line. Scenery extensions won't be placed until the 64-bit version of the game comes out. I've yet to get a memory dump with this enhanced route, but I really don't want to risk it just yet.

As for now, the assets list as follows; anything marked in red is required, while anything marked in green isn't necessary.
Raton Pass (main assets)
ScaleRail (main track and crossing bucks)
G-TraX Semaphore Signals (signals north of Trinidad)
Stevens Pass (crossing panels)
RCAP (grade crossings)
The Racetrack (two crossing signs)

I'll catch you all later in Trinidad! *!!wink!!*

A big thanks to BoostedFridge for helping me out so far.

So...yeah. I made very little progress yesterday. I got to spend my Labor Day working. !*roll-laugh*!

This is what the five track crossing in Trinidad looks like. I can't determine if this one had gates back then.

Disregard the IAIS GP38-2. That was a test.

That crossing didn't have gates back in the 90's, and doesn't have gates now either.

Since i'm the new guy here, i'm gonna be the one to ask the stupid question.

Will this route be up for download once it's done?

This is a mod of an existing route. I believe that the mod will be uploaded, but you would have to own the original Raton Pass route as well.

Yes, this mod will be uploaded when I have it completed. That might be a while however.

Alright, I will settle some things right now.

The plans for this route:
-Rip out all railroad crossings and replace them with prototypes (it's fortunate that there are only a couple crossings on the route that are mechanical)
-Replace all roads when the time comes to relay them
-Add more vegetation to make the route "pop"
-Fix superelevation in certain areas
-Fix the track rule
-Add more clutter

I have not been working on it for the past couple days, but today I will pick up progress on it. If you see any roads sinking into the track, please, disregard them. They are to be replaced eventually.

On the backburner for now. I'm hoping to get back on it soon enough.
