Hi,
Today I tried to make distant mountains for my route and that turned into a unexpected shadows on the terrain.
Please see the attachment.
Also, what is the proper grid size do you use of importing HGT data? 5x5 or higher? I used 19x19.
Can you also tell me the default size of one tile in Rail Works, is it 2x2 Kilometers?
What is the possible solution to get rid of these shadows?
Thanks

I've seen this issue before. I really don't know why it specifically happens. Some routes get them, some do not. I have theories regarding the DEM source files, and how RW processes them.

Regardless, if you are up for some reading, the thread below covers this and one solution for it on page 3 of the thread. I would read the entire thread for context.

There is no 'proper' or 'improper' size during importing. What those options are is for how many tiles you are importing each time you press 'import terrain' . If you are bringing terrain in to a fresh route, you may as well use the largest tile area.

A tile is 1024 meters x 1024 meters

Ok, I have solved the issue.
Thanks.
If any one who want to know how this distant mountain setup works, kindly read 2014 TS HOW to Guide in your RailWorks/Dev folder, there is a Docs folder .
