Impossibly straight rail

So, just to ask the opposite from my older post:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1884

Is it possible to create a rule where it would force the rails to be straight?

Perhaps something like:

MainLineTrackLimits>
<iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits>
<MaxSpeedTolerance d:type="sUInt32">60</MaxSpeedTolerance>
<MinRadius d:type="sUInt32">360</MinRadius>
</iTrackRulesBlueprint-sCurvatureLimits>
</MainLineTrackLimits>

From the left-side bottom fly-out menu I believe it is, there an "Easements" option you can enable that will help in laying out track in a straight line. I don't know if that's what you're looking for.

Though I'd suggest to turn-off the Easement option when trying to lay tracks to have a tighter curvature.

Actually I always have easements turned off.

If you only enable the "follow network" option in the flyout the tracks will turn yellow when straight.
Very easy way to lay straight track.

With easements off, hold down the Ctrl key while drawing your track to lock on straight track. A route should only need 2 to 3 track rules at most; any special situations can then be accomplished with the settings in the flyouts.

Gonna give this a try tomorrow (hitting the hey now).

You know if this works I will only guilt myself into redoing all my track (@25 miles of mainline and two staging yards). At least Niles Canyon will stay as is, as there are very few straight runs through it.

... ah well.

Hiya, if you turn off snap to track, you will lay strait track.

When you want to form a junction(switch) just hold CTRL.

Thanks, that works nicely .... now to rip and lay... *sigh*

Hiya, "been there, done that," you'll find it turns out much nicer the second time around.

Actualy its so beutiful I'm about to cry....

well... not really, but darn it, its so nice to see straight track for once. I guess this means I have to post some WIP shots now that my route doesn't look like it was drawn by a drunken sailor.

I laid track for two years before I learned to lay track. !*lho*! Built 5 routes.... 5 times.

It went well last night and I replaced a third of the route already. Its actually going much faster now that I *can* lay the track straight. Thinking back I was burning a ton of time trying to just this.

With the frustration level down to 0, I am having fun again! Thanks again everyone for your help.
