Not enough or too many?

Unread postby SAR704 » Mon Nov 20, 2017 11:01 pm

Just wondering, how many residential houses would be optimal for a diverse appearance in a suburban route? I'm thinking of doing about 30 (not with massive amounts of detail either), but would this be enough?

For those who use their own assets, how many do you guys normally build?

I usually try for 20-25 houses on a block. I would assume that depends on the houses and their style.

You can also get away with the same house, but with a different color. What will make each neighbor unique is the yard treatment. :D

I think thrown out bo**s, overgrown grass, and clapped out cars would be slight overkill regarding detail for a potential freeware route, but nonetheless it's an idea!

The problem is that the semi detached houses built in the northern suburbs of Adelaide were almost brand new by about 1959 (roughly the era intended to be 'represented'), with some just being foundations or grass lol.

Would you happen have an example of what you tend to do for high density neighbourhoods?

Yes, sometimes there's overgrown grass around an old junk car.
