Hiya, have you set the route up in it's correct coordinate location? If you did you can use DEM which gives the correct terrain shape, matching the real world.

i think this one has more potential. i am supprised you are not using scale rail for your track, and using the default. scale rail would look alot better. i cant wait for this route to bring back memories of playing MSTS years ago before i lost the game and never looked at buying a new one......this will look great! your model of the station looks like payware grade!!!

Howdy!

Marias Pass is a must-have for me and your work looks very promising so far.
I especially like the Whitefish depot. !!*ok*!!

I would recommend that you use these basic assets for your route:
-the SMMDigital railroad crossings - http://www.smmdigital.net/
-Scalerail/Scaelroad/RuralLandscapes from 3DTrains (there are free versions available from the 3DTrains Forums) - http://3dtrains.com/

They can make RW routes much better and more realistic and the best is they are all freeware.
Trainguy76 is right: Use ReDem and all your Terrain is quite accurate (there is also a free testversion available,http://www.zugware.com/site/home)
RWTools is a basic when setting up routes, if you haven't used it, start new and use it. (I know that's a lot of work, but it's worth it. *!greengrin!* )

So enough of tips.
I hope you have fun with the development and I also hope we can see further progress soon. !*salute*!

P.S. I think there should be automatical switches on the mainline in your pictures above.

Hi guys

Thank you all for your reply and your links.
I wanna now set the route on the real position and will make over 5 miles of the route today(with decals)
But i have a question. After i had finished the whitefish train station i cant convert them into rail works, cause i had not the 3d max tool to convert them.
Can anybody convert them for me and send it back to me so i can place it into the route?
Will be glad about your help.
Thanks

Best Regards

You have to set the route up correctly when you first create it.

Since you said you haven't, you will have to start the route over. (Which it will be worth it in the end.)

http://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewtopic.php?f=321&t=99735#p1211104

Here is a tutorial for setting your route up in the right location.
You can find the co-ordinates by setting Google Earth to using "Decimal-degrees" and navigating to your route origin.

Yeah, but set up the route template with RWTools (http://www.rstools.info/rw_tools.html). Believe us it's worth a restart (you haven't done so much till now so it's not too late).

If you have any questions, you can always ask. !*salute*!

hi
Long
I have a problem.I wanted to make the terrain shape with DEM but as i put the Lon. and Lat. and click the load button the program give me the message :Starting Longitude must be 180 or -180.
But if this were the Longitude my starting point were in the ocean and not at whitefish. So how can i get them work?.
Or must i register the program to get the Longitude i need?
Thanks

Basically you can use ReDem for free, but it will only create one half of the Terrain.

So to your issue:
Have you used "." (points) for your values? Have you checked if long and lat are in the correct fields?
If you don't live in the US, set your PC's "Formats" to "English (USA). That was an issue I had with ReDem because I used "German" as Format first.

Hi, can you take a screenshot of the settings you are using and show it here?

(You can find DEM here- http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/North_America/)
