How do I move buffers, please?

I cannot remember now how to move buffers from the middle of a track to the end, where they should be.
These are on Sherman Hill, I did move them about 3 years ago, when we got the original route, but, since my Cancer treatment my brain isn't functioning properly any more, and I've forgotten how to do it. !*don-know!*
Can some kind soul please explain the procedure again to me please, in simple terms. !*hp*!

the screenshot looks like a naughty buffer is popping up where it shouldn't. Usually a simple delete and undo will force it to the proper location - though they are often prone to returning to the inappropriate location.

Using non-buffered track & manually placing the buffers sometimes is the way to go.

To move the Stop buffer to the end of the track:
Select the track behind the buffer.
Move the selected track to somewhere near.
Click Undo.
The buffer should be now positioned at the end of the track.

This may sound like a newbie question, but do the buffers actually bring your train to a stop if you're still drifting along at a few miles an hour? Or are they just static non interactive objects? I don't use buffers in track lofts at all really, so I probably should ask.

The line I'm intending to model didn't commonly have buffers. If I post screenshots of it one day and you see the atmosphere/environment, you'll understand why lol.

Buffers will bring your train to a stop if it doesn't have too much kinetic energy slamming into them. They have a limited strength, so pushing something heavy into them at a reasonable speed may cause derailments or rolling stock damage.
