An ignoramus' question...

James is working on an updated version of Tori's wonderful COA, to extend and landscape etc. B24 did a fantastic version of Brauer Lumber on the same route a year or so back which he called Bumbleberry. Here is the question - is it possible to port over the excellent work B24 did on Brauer to James' version. This would save re-inventing the wheel and we would get the best of both works. It seems strange to have multiple versions of basically the same route if they could be amalgamated.

Hoping one of the route builders can shed light on this...

There's only person I know of that has successfully merged routes, Ottodad at Train-Sim. Two of the biggest problems are start cordinates and elevation heights.

But isn't Ozinoz talking about merging two verions of the same route into one?

There can only be one master tracks.bin file and perhaps all of the other files in the Tracks folder under Networks will have to come from one version, the master.
But all the scenery tiles can be swapped out between different versions of the route.

Perhaps one of you should just try to put the Bumbleberry scenery into the master scenery, as JamesPHH probably has changed more scenery all along the main line, while the Bauer Lumber was off the Durbin Branch?

Does anyone remember if Bumbleberry changed the track up there or is it the same? If the track is the same then putting the scenery in there is probably not a problem however if the track is added to or changed that makes it more complicated however he did use Tory's template so the locations should be fine.

Was that Bumblebee mod ever made available to the public, or was a mini-route in itself?

Please note that I have generally finished the unfinished section of Bauer Lumber with a log loader at the end. Some screen shot have been posted. The major issue is that when started I used the water from VNHRR, a payware route.

OK. Just as a FYI I slapped a couple of scenery and terrain tiles from the Bumbleberry to the C&O and they showed up just where they were supposed to be.

Yes, these links are still alive.

Don't know what to do with the files, but will find out once I open the archives.

We do miss Tori, sigh.

There are assets, more assets, repaints and such and a small Content folder.

I've just copied over the scenery, terrain and mixmap folder into a copy of my COARW v5. Trying to open the route editor and see how it goes.
If the tile numbers and coordinates match up, there should be that much problems.

Tori didn't set any markers near Anthony, so'll have to fly there.

A parallel check with RW_Tools didn't show many files missing. But many assets Tori didn't have available to her, as the COARW predated HSC, DP and other stuff that appeared later.

This is so long ago I visited that part of COARW I cannot remember how it looks.
On tile "+000057+000096 there is sawmill, kiln, horses and mules, is that the place we're looking for?

It is a stand alone route. Is there not a content folder with a route there somewhere? Should start with 473a96cc-whatever.

Yes, there is a Content folder with the route UUID you mention. I didn't install the route, just copied the MixMap, Scenery and Terrain folder over into a copy of my COARW route.
This way the terrain and scenery gets integrated with the COARW, but the original COARW track remains untouched. I have changed all the signals into C&O USS R2, and I'd rather not loose al that effort.

The contents of the Networks folder will have to be merged somehow with the COARW networks, but only if Mr Bumblebee made any changes to the track layout in the section he cut off from Tori's original route. if he didn't touch any track geometry wise, nothing was changed and the integration of scenery is complete and successful.

If JamesPHH also only changed scenery, his changed tiles could be integrated just as easily. I already intergrated a Russian done forest mod once before. Oops, perhaps this second integration undid some of his ....

If only there's a tool or easy way to find out actual contents of that tile, comparing and integrating would be easier. Filestamps and filesize are now the only clue.

I don't have any of the Britkits logging stuff, so I am exploring by hovering. The logging area does look nice.
One thing I remember discussing with Tori, the character of WVa's original forest was deciduous. There were no coniferous trees like firs and spruces that are modeled here.
The 3D firs etc look nice, but eastern mountain vegetation was mostly oak. So we just have to pretend the slopes were reforrested with production timber and now a second logging is taking place.

Those who tried the scenary integration succeeded?

There *are* differences in the track layout. The Bumbleberry is different from COARW.
Compare these 2 locations at First Hollow: Tori's track goes thru the rock slide that BB most likely added, while BB's track goes around over that wooden construction.



How to proceed from here? Especially without Tori's advise or consent?

I undid the amalgamation, as there were changes to Tori's scenery elsewhere. Also it seemed the route was re-DEM'ed here and there, or coordinates were shifted.
BB's route is 279 scenery tiles, Tori's 356 in my install, perhaps it was based on an earlier beta v4 or v4.5?
BB's modifications in the Anthony area are centered around +000057+000096 or thereabouts.
Is there a tile mapping tool like I believe to have seen for MSTS?

More and deeper study is needed as to what tile goes where and what is on it.

I believe it is based on 4.5 because of the timing.
