GE overlay problem

Unread postby SAR704 » Tue May 05, 2015 12:54 am

I've enabled the GE overlay to build a route, but when I go into it, it just loads for infinity. I have an internet connection of around 300kb per second at its peak, but I haven't yet seen this feature in TS, because it doesn't work for me.

Is my internet connection too slow or something?

Hrm... Have you made sure you've input your Google Maps API key exactly as it appears in your Google dashboard?

Fridge is right. If the blue wheels just keep spinning or just spin for a second and then stop your api key is not functioning properly. Been there done that.

And you won't be able to cut and paste the code in until the final update comes through. We had it with the beta but we are back to the old version again. So you have to make sure of your typing. Best is to copy it to notepad so you can see what it really is, the font on google is a little wierd.

I adjusted the height in the window that comes up with ctrl+G and recopied the API key, and there seems to be a slight indication of the game at least acknowledging something related to it. However, this is what shows up.

Actual GE imagery for the area is fine, but this is strange. How do I make it display proper aerial images?

Putting the route coordinates from your screenshot into Google results in a location about 110miles off the south coast of Australia... !**conf**!

The coordinates are roughly at the same long lat as I mentioned in the thread.

What do you mean by they'll be 100 kilometres or so away?

If my computer is working right, and Google Earth is working right, the Hurtsbob is correct. Check out your co-ords in GE. I think that your lat. may be OK, but your long is wrong.

The co-ordinates in your screenshot refer to the pin location below in Google Maps. !!det!!

Sorry about that, Bob. My 82 year old fingers don't work right some times.

Seriously not a probem.

I can only hope my fingers work as well as yours once I've reached your venerable years. :D

Despite what the screenshot seems to be indicating, the long lat of that screenshot is at approximately -34.138886 135.72936.

The DEM data is more or less correct for the area, so it must be a glitch in the overlay function.
