This is strange

Unread postby SAR704 » Sun Apr 05, 2015 5:02 am

I had a quick glance at the Cajon Pass terrain textures, and although they look sort of ok, I can't find any files in the texturing folder that the CP route properties refers to. It's listed as railsimulatorus/environment/terrain/texturing.xml (mostly lower case).

I've done a test with another route (one that I started) referring to the same xml file and it loads one of the default terrain textures.

However, the selection list is empty, which means I can't find the texture that i may want to use at some point. This is so weird. Is there anything I can do to get the selection list to load?

This is weird, but I may have found a way to get my custom terrain texture displaying without the game crashing. I find this hard to believe, but I can currently navigate around the my route without any crashes, regardless of any differences in the terrain height which is one of the causes of the crashes.

What I did was clone the Kuju Texturing.xml and named it TexturingA, exported the texture files to the Kuju folder, disabled the wang in the texturingA.xml and changed any other required references, and now it's actually displaying my custom terran texture without crashing. This is hard to believe.

It must have been the blueprint that was faulty, or something in the setup, but at least for now I can lay track. Unbelievable.

You likely have the original blueprint misconfigured, or have a problem with one of the textures. If you disable wang, then many of the textures won't show up (b through h). Go through the entries one by one enabled those that to be wang and see which ones crash the game.

Believe it.

The textures I have exported are non-wang. Wang is specified as false in the blueprint. So it must be some other fault in it causing the game to crash.

When I finally figure out the problem, I'll just update the blueprint to my own content folder and it'll be all good.

It's nice to be able to use my own textures without the crashes for now anyhow :D
