Problem with landscape painting

Unread postby B-24_LIBERATOR » Sun Mar 22, 2015 12:52 pm

Does anybody know how to solve this problem? I am unable to use the landscape paint tool as it doesn't load any textures...

Not the right texturing file in routeproperties.xml and templateroutes ? For the latter look in the routeproperties.xml which is referenced.

I recommend looking first how it works in an existing route.
Go into a route's folder (e.g. Sherman Hill: RailWorks\Content\Route\00000036-0000-0000-0000-000000002012). Here you'll find a file named RouteProperties.xml
in this file you have to search for the terrain blueprint:

Code: Select all
  <TerrainBlueprint>
      <iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
         <BlueprintSetID>
            <iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
               <Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
               <Product d:type="cDeltaString">ShermanHill</Product>
            </iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
         </BlueprintSetID>
         <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">Environment\Terrain\SHTexturing.xml</BlueprintID>
      </iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
   </TerrainBlueprint>

=> the right terrain blueprint is here the file RailWorks\Assets\RSC\ShermanHill\Environment\Terrain\SHTexturing.xml

The same entry has to be in in the templateroute (Otherwise you may get problems).
Look here more above, where to find it:

Code: Select all
   <BlueprintID>
      <iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
         <BlueprintSetID>
            <iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
               <Provider d:type="cDeltaString">RSC</Provider>
               <Product d:type="cDeltaString">ShermanHill</Product>
            </iBlueprintLibrary-cBlueprintSetID>
         </BlueprintSetID>
         <BlueprintID d:type="cDeltaString">templateroutes\shermanhill_template.xml</BlueprintID>
      </iBlueprintLibrary-cAbsoluteBlueprintID>
   </BlueprintID>

=>RailWorks\Assets\RSC\ShermanHill\templateroutes\shermanhill_template.xml

Hope that helps.

The easiest way is to download RW tools.

http://www.rstools.info/downloads.html

You'll get 21 uses before you have to purchase a licence key, by making a small donation via Paypal or another method. It opens XML, bin files etc and makes them clearer than wordpad, and subsequently easier to edit.

Also there are free text editors that understand and format common languages such as XML.
The best is probably Notepad++
