system locks up

Unread postby cnw1970 » Mon Mar 02, 2015 9:45 pm

Can anyone tell me, if you have a lot of decals from RWDecal opened on a route, will it crash your system. My graphics card is a GeForce GT545, it needs upgraded I know. When I navigate to the area I'm working on I work for about 5 minutes, then my screen locks up. It only seems to do this in the location that I'm working on currently. I have started to delete the bin files for the decals that I'm finished with, but a decal remains there in yellow and white saying "missing texture". When I click on it to delete it I get the lock up. I have a monitor for my graphics card, and the load on the GPU is always maxed out while I'm in editor mode. I'm pretty sure I can get the older decals deleted that I don't use, but do I need to upgrade my GPU, and if so what do you all recommend?? !*hp*!

First thing is hit the F2 button real often like less than a minute apart and see if that helps to unload the vid card. At least when you get the crash whatever you were doing should be saved.

Thanks, I'll try that. Do you think it has anything to do with the GPU?? Once in a while the game play gets a little choppy, which it never used to do. Never had any of these problems before TS2015 came out.

I have been using RWDecal ever since it came out, best method in my opinion. The answer to your question is yes, too many decals in your route will crash it, ( depending on hardware used ). I rarely experienced any crashes when using a GTX 670 ( using the same specs as in my sig, see below ). I got my GTX 980 just over four months ago and I have not experinced any crashes at all since then.

I would say it has plenty to do with GPU power. ( Im no techie though so... )

Do you have a temperature monitor program running on the GPU? Crashes at random are often caused by overheating of the GPU. Try to open your computer, and check the videocard for dirt, dust and lint. Clean the fans, the ventilation openings all around the case.

It's been running about 153 degrees, and it's over due for a cleaning.

I hope so, because 153 degrees C is about Jessica Alba in a bikini on a sunny day.

To answer your question 153F is nowhere near hot enough to be causing you any problems however a good cleaning might fix some other issue that you have.

I've had Vid card issues from time to time and found out you need to make sure all your older drivers are GONE before you update to new drivers. Programs like Display Driver Uninstaller or DDU works real well. I don't like to install anything on my puter that's not necessary but I find this program is almost a must have to get rid of all those leftover vid drivers. *!!wink!!*

I did show a spike of 187F last night, so it's getting cleaned today!!!
