Thank you Kris.

If I understand your post correctly I'm already doing most of the steps you suggest in order to get around the easement tool bug when putting down lofts.

I bit the bullet and forced myself to get the Orin to just South of PLM Railcar Maintenance and Black Hills to Dewey. I encountered the easement tool bug 5 times while extending the Orin and only once extending Black Hills - the difference between placing 4 parallel tracks as opposed to 2 I guess. Since the Black Hills Sub has been relatively painless so far I'll make the push for Edgemont and the start of the Butte Subdivision tomorrow. Work continues on getting track markers and such in place on the Orin up to Converse Junction - Once that is done I'll have another phase ready for release but don't expect much of anything in the new extensions beyond track and some signals until another phase later in the year.

You're very welcome!

P.S. I made it to the outskirts of Edgemont today and will put the small yard in tomorrow before I go back to track markers on the Orin.

I usually overestimate how much I can get done in a given time frame but I am aiming for the next phase release this month.

This may be a stupid question, but then again I am a stupid person. Where could I download this? It looks like a fantastic route, and I've searched for it in the File Library, but no dice.

As usual I've found a way to get distracted from polishing up the Orin track markers. Filling in the rest of Edgemont (and there is plenty left to fill in), which should take another week or so... and it just struck me that I'm no longer in Wyoming but rather in South Dakota at the northern edge of the Oglala National Grasslands.

Put in 4 hours of track markers today and needed to take a break and decided to explore something TDHenderson mentioned back on page 11.

Kevin Costner is in the caboose, so I'm good.

Two screenshots showing that 110 loads with 3 engines will fit in the yard at Bill. First shot is the South end and second shot is the North end, makes me think that 120 loads would just squeeze in.

8 miles South of Bill is a decent place for the use of telecompression to emphasize the grade.

Is this the branch to Deadwood? A wonderful addition if it is.

For those interested here is a really nice interactive map of railroads in the Black Hills, also has a lot of photos linked to a number of locations. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... d56aJN0BVM

It is. I've only put in 4 miles so far, enough to get me to the first stand of pines. Once I get the Canyon sub to Guernsey and the Butte sub to Alliance I'll see if I want to take the Deadwood branch any further. Being 109 miles It could easily stand as it's own route and I think it might be better served separately - I have no idea how I might meld it in with a modern day Powder River Basin unless we just pretend that once you hit Deadwood junction you enter the twilight zone and go 40 years back in time.

I keep thinking that it might be a wonderful project in TSW (if they ever release an editor) but TSW doesn't seem to render mid and distant trees attractively.

And I, for one, appreciate that link... thank you!
