So the tracks are going to be updated and some changes to the layout?

I just got back on the Virtual Railroading horse and was reorganizing my files when I found three scenarios for the CVP that have just been sitting for a few years.

So I guess I should hold off on uploading them until the next update?

Also has anybody had any luck in getting the turntable to work in Odessa Bar? When a engine runs up to it there is a obstruction that won't let the engine enter the bridge. I have checked track heights, I have changed track leading up to it, replaced the model with a "new" same model replacement and still the same problem. Now the turntable in Panaska runs just fine. The others on the line I have not tested. Just seems to a fault with the model that is used in Odessa Bar.

It appears that the turntable lead tracks overlap the tracks on the turntable (see pic #3). Note the double tie plates and the ballast extending into the pit. Pic #1 is as it should be with a gap.) Pic #2 is when I tried to place a locomotive on the turntable. Also the storage track behind the turntable is not active. No stock can be placed on it. You may be able to move the turntable back to add this gap or shorten the lead track.

Howdy! Thank you for the quick reply.

I think this turntable is on Scared First Nation Burial Grounds. Because it is still cursing me.

Every time I monkey with it the thing disappears and I have to clear the cache and restart to get it to show. I raised it up a little and put the hole decal a bit further into the ground and the same thing occurs. Which makes me think my PC is struggling a bit in the graphics department.

Now I have run into the overlap thing which will occur if you lay tracks from the switch stub to the turntable.

If you run tracks to the switch track stub then it connects way into the turnout which totally messes up the switch. So the solution I have tried is to extend the switch stub a bit and then run the track from the turntable to the stub. Now I have found that turning off "Snap to Terrain" and "Snap to Track" gets the ends to connect while using the "hold control key" method.

It does allow me to weld the two sections together once I adjust the height a little. However welding always produces this offset problem which stops the engine. That is what is shown in the picture.

Now I have tried out the turntable on a blank layout. If it is raised enough off of the ground, and you run a track from the turntable outwards the 3 out of 5 setups it works just fine.

I do believe it is myself that is mishandling some aspect of this operation. The tools appear to work but the craftsman is not as skilled as he has led himself to believe.

I am less educated than you in terms of track laying so I will defer to your skills. At least I am getting the same results as you.

Success in the turntable department!

First it might have been that we didn't pay off the exorcist so we got repossessed... *!lol!*

I am never above admitting that I make mistakes. It is how we learn what works and what doesn't.

So first thing I deleted the tunnel hole decal by lifting the turntable straight up from its spot so as to access the decal. The ground where the table sits is already depressed which gives the pit the shape it needs. That solved the disappearing table error.

Next with the table already lifted out of the way I double clicked the turntable to bring up the flyout window. In that window I set the elevation to 2.00 which raises it up just a bit from the 1.956 it was set at.

Now with the table in place I cut the track leading up to it just a bit further out than the visible edge of the table concrete apron. Then I raised the table back up out of the way so I could delete the section that ran from the cut to the table.

Then lowered the table back into place by entering the 2.00 in the elevation.

Now I selected the CVP Rail Only track and laid track from the cut to the turntable where it "snapped" into place. Final step is to use the "Join" tool (between the Split and Offset tool) to join the Turntable to the Rail Only section. This seems to ensure height and distance alignment is set. Do not join the track to the table, that just pulls the track out of place. Easily corrected though by using the undo tool.

And now the hard work of the Pixel MOW Department has paid off.

CVP Route Cars redone

Unread postby ironcat60 » Mon Nov 23, 2020 7:25 pm

Announced in Freeware that I have submitted a redo of the rolling stock I did quite awhile ago.

You can read all about it in the Freeware Section. Put some serious work into this version and expanded the cars to include the Northern Pacific and Canadian National as they would interchange with the CVP through the CP and GN.
