Hi,

Anybody looking for some new wheels? I've heard the CVP just expanded their engine roster, they now have a small fleet of EMD GP7s, too. They bought them together with their big neighbor in the south, the GN, which is why the CVP's Geeps share the same configuration as the GN's. (So no, it's got absolutely nothing to do with me being lazy and recycling existing textures. Really, nothing at all! Who would say such a mean thing?)

The CVP GP7 is available here: http://golden-age-rails.com/packsrw/emdgp9cvp.html

Cheers!
Michael

That sounds like a good idea. The easiest way to handle it is to add them as scenario scenery items with two models - one raise and one lowered. The scenario author places the one they want in front of the station.

I'm working on a Switchlist Generator for the CVP. Can someone tell me what types of cars would be used on these tracks at the Smelter Plant at Grand Bend? In fact, can someone point me to a website that explains what a smelter does?

GB Finishing
GB Trestle 1
GB Trestle 2
GB Plating
GB Concentrator
GB Fabrication 1
GB Fabrication 2

Also, what kinds of cars would the mill at Panaska use? One final question, what is mined at the Brandon Mine and the Quarry?

The RWA Lakeside route has working Train Order signals that would look great on the Columbia Valley Pacific.

With some of the steep cliffs and stuff, I almost wonder if that would look better in narrow gauge. Maybe like a Canadian version of the White Pass & Yukon? Either way the route looks amazing from these pics.

It ships flat cars and gondolas of lumber and boxcars of milled shapes.
It receives flat cars and gondolas of logs.

One final question, what is mined at the Brandon Mine and the Quarry?

At Brandon they ship crushed ore. Most of it goes to Granby and other copper refineries. But some seams have alternate metal content - lead, silver, gold etc and that ore is shipped to washing and screening plants off route.

At Quarry its just gravel for construction purposes.

The Granby smelter takes raw ore through various screening and chemical separation stages to extract a high concentrate copper ore. The final step is to electroplate the copper out of the ore and onto ingots. Those ingots are further pressed, rolled and cast into various shapes.

GB Finishing - ships boxcars and flatcars of metal ingots
GB Trestle 1 - receives gondolas and hoppers of raw ore
GB Trestle 2 - receives gondolas and hoppers of raw ore
GB Plating - receives boxcars and tank cars of refining chemicals
GB Concentrator - receives boxcars of equipment and supplies
GB Fabrication 1 - ships boxcars and flatcars of metal shapes
GB Fabrication 2 - ships boxcars and flatcars of metal shapes

What about maybe using Dick Cowen’s “Steelworks” pack.... might be some cars in there you could use.....

Steelworks are smelters of iron, coal and limestone. A smelter is in essence a refiner of metal concentrate into a purer ingot form be it iron, silver, gold, copper, tin etc.
The crudest form is an open fire with a bucket hanging over it but that was near cave man times now it is a sophisticated and controlled chemical process. (They use a bigger bucket)
Many of the “steelworks” cars would be suitable.Excellent suggestion.
