I'll risk bumping an old thread just for continuity of discussion. This may hold the record for the longest running route construction but I have continued to make progress on the CVP between other projects. I haven't been slacking though :-), I have worked on 11 other routes since I started the CVP, most of which have been released already. But I am hoping to get the CVP released this year. How's that for sticking my neck out - a 3 month deadline.
I will release the route here on RWA as freeware. So many people have helped me with it that I want to give it back to the community. And its really not aimed at the commercial masses anyway( an exaggeration of our market size! ). Instead its just all the things I like in a route. Its very short, representing 16 miles of a much longer railroad, with an additional 5 mile branch line. Most scenarios will be less than 1 hour, but I have a couple planned that will take longer. I've set it in the 50's because I like 50's cars, and I prefer to run diesels. But I have a steam powered logging branch and a large industrial facility run by electric locomotives just to cover those interests. And of course - car ferry operations. A few of you may remember the car ferry on my old MSTS L&PS route and some of you may have noticed I slipped a car ferry into the B&LE route at Conneaut ( it actually was the opposite end of the Port Stanley ferry route! ).
If you are interested in learning more, take a look at the draft instruction manual here.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1S5U8YBJau_j5biwHY0vzDtJkBecYyarWoLoW9TKIbyoThe route is essentially complete. I have a long list of enhancements and additions I want to make, but I'll save them for future updates. The dependency list is short - Kuju US, Kuju Europe, and the RWA Lakeside. Everything else I'll package with the route including many new scenery items that should be a help to other route builders.
Here's a couple of pics of the new CVP livery.
