Ouch. Didn't know that. I thought Packager let you save and reopen packages for modification.

If it let, I would be #1 fan of Packager, no doubt. !*salute*!

I am very appreciative for all of your comments and assistance. I have tried packaging this route through RW and have a few questions about troubleshooting. Yes the route comes up, but it doesn't have a ground ; more like transparent grid. I don't know what causes this but someone else might. Those are issues that I am trying to sort out that is directed to me.....All help is greatly appreciated

artimrj wrote:Packaging the route itself is easy. You use the Package Manager to pack it up by locating the route's folder and selecting all of it.

The hard part is packing the assets up. The best way to do that is with RW Tools. When you check the route with RW Tools it will provide a list of assets used by your route. You can use the list to manually select your asset folders and pack them with the Manager, or you can let RW Tools pack them for you. It needs the lists too though so you have to save them after you create them while checking the route. RW Tools will copy the assets to the RW Tools folder in to another folder with the name of your route. In the RW Tools main folder is an EXE file called RW_Route_setup.exe. Copy this to route folder RW Tools made and zip it all up together. Use will then unzip and run the EXE to install.

I'm not a route builder, so this may be completely wrong-headed, but couldn't the assets list generated by RW_Tools be used to select assets within the Package Manager so as to create an RWP file? I'm asking because when it comes to installing a route, I'd far rather use the Package Manager, since it makes removing that route's assets much easier (and does not remove assets needed by other routes).

Hi Tom,

As Bob Artim has stated in another thread, yes you can (if fact, have to) use the RW_Tools list to build the route pack, as a guide though in order to avoid missing some asset.

I've already see Packager Manager failling when removing installed assets, sometimes deleting assets used by other routes (or scenarios) and therefore messing the installation, or leaving intact few (I admit) assets no longer used anywhere.

With current (and cheap, compared to the comfort you can get) Tera and half-Tera Gigs HDD, and having my clean installation with all DLC about only 21.7GB, I'm currently working with 6 different installations in a dedicated HDD (other HDD holds all programs and backups): Normal (with everything I decided to play say "definitively"), NERW (exclusively for NERW Route and Fleet), Tennessee Pass (same), LEP, Test (same as normal, but here is where I test new content and assets until decide if I indeed wanna them), and 2 Clean Fresh installations.

From now ahead I'll refresh some of them periodically (say 6 months or less), which makes game run faster and smoother (if I'm not under placebo's effect). And so far I'm using no more than 40% of each HDD, free space in not a problem... *!!wink!!*

Using rwtools you can package all the assets. I just used the file list to tell what's payware and what's free. Mostly guesswork *!embar*!
As for packaging the route I just followed all the steps exactly with rwtools and had no problems. I've only ever reinstalled from my zip files on my own machine but it worked fine.

I'll dig out the guide for you tomorrow morning when I'm back on my computer. I can't remember if the guide's on the rwtools site or the programme. It was really easy to use I found :D

Ok BNSF650 if you look in your rwtools programme folders you should see a file RW_Tools_Help.pdf, Go to page 28 and the packaging guide starts there.
If you can't find the pdf or do not have it let me know and i will send you it !!*ok*!!

it is possible to package payware assets, but by default the game leaves them out when packaging. you need to open up that little tree/expandable thing and go around and check all the boxes of payware protected stuff. this is kinda annoying when you make an asset that's protected since the game will leave it out if your trying to make a package, just go and check the box and it will include it.
