Nice one, Tom.

Maybe I never had this problem because I use to build (add/remove/swap) my consists with RW_Tools, and probably it take care of car's numbers to avoid duplication.

Cheers,
Lisboa.

It doesn't. It uses the csv files if present.
This is a problem when swapping cars, because RWTools changes the car number according to the csv file.
Then you have to modify the instructions in the scenario editor (or edit the xml file as I do).
I'd prefer it left the car numbers alone.

Are you sure about that, Chacal? I'm asking because sometimes after writing a scenario I discover that I've unintentionally used some piece of non-standard rolling stock. At that point, I head for the RW_Tools scenario editor and swap the non-standard item for something standard. My experience is that the number assigned to the old piece of rolling stock is also assigned to the new one, meaning that I do not have to alter the pick-up or drop-off instructions. Just to check on this, I'm going to do an experiment and will get back to this thread with my findings. In the meantime, I'd like to know what experiences other scenario writers have had with this precise matter: when RW_Tools is used to swap rolling stock, does it assign the replacement the same number as the item being replaced or does it choose a new one from the new car's CSV numbers file?

It happened using RWTools 3.0.46.
I only noticed it once, so I don't know if it is normal behavior.
When doing the experiment, please write down the assets being swapped so we can track down the cause.

If I design my own route, will the weather effects I put in be available as rain or snow on the windows?

Rain is part of the train model. It has to be an RW3 model to have rainy windows. Not sure about snow on the windows though. RW Tools lets you add snow to parts of a train, but I do not think it is the windows.

Just some info ... It is possible to add snow to windows in locos and passenger stock, unfortunatly it requires access to the original mesh files > including the cab/interior mesh . You'd also need a degree of skill and some "outside the square" thinking .
