Discussion about RailWorks route design.

Grand Trunk Western Signals

Unread postby PullmanCar » Sun Jul 30, 2023 6:00 pm

I was hoping some here might have some input, either based upon history of visuals in Train Sim. The GTW as I understand used Searchlight and Tri-Light Signals. I have a smattering of them I am trying out in Kalamazoo, with the intent of having several, mixed along the route, as that seems to be the case in Michigan.

I have the Race Track Tri-Lites, which seem VERY good, however there are limited aspect combinations, and all are meant for a gantry, so I am mounting them on a B&O Mountain Sub pole.

I have the G-Trax Searchlights, they seem to work well, but again, limited aspect combinations. The glow on these seems very nice too.

Lastly I have the RCAP signals, which have a splendid variety of Searchlight, 2Ho2 Searchlights, and Tri-Lights, although they seem to be the farther spaced lenses as some roads used, whereas GTW used the close ones, like the Race Track ones. These seem to be very bright from quite far away, and I have tried changing the bin files to the nonvis ones included, and even tried swapping over the glow textures from the Race Track.

What would anyone here's opinion be, either based upon accuracy, or visuals based upon what is in game. Are there additional Tri-Lites I am missing, other 2Ho2 signals, or something else I should do? I like the RCAP signals, just not the flares/glows.

*EDIT* Penn Coal has satisfied most of the Tri-Light signals needed.
