Advanced approach (flashing yellow) using RCAP signals

Unread postby cnwfan » Sat Feb 22, 2020 4:17 pm

Has anyone been able to get a flashing yellow aspect to work on a single head 1 link signal using RCAP signals? I've tried the NS and C&O signal rules, but the only sequence I can seem to get is...

Block 3 - Red signal (train occupied)
Block 2 - Solid yellow signal (block empty)
Block 1 - Solid green signal (block empty)

The signal protecting block 1 should display a flashing yellow, at least that is what I'm trying to achieve. I've tried the approach and limited check boxes on link 1, but I still get a solid green aspect. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be most appreciated. Thanks!

The "light sequence" is hard coded in the signals' scripts. I'm not familiar with the RCAP signals, but if an advance approach aspect isn't included in the scripts, then I'm afraid there's nothing you can do that doesn't involve editing the scripts.

Cheers

Well... that is a bummer. If I was to "adjust" the signal scripts, what would I be looking for? Thanks!

To change the lights, you'll need some basic LUA knowledge and of course the signals' original scripts in uncomplied .lua format (no .out files). Then load the script in Notepad++ or similar, find the section that controls the aspects and edit to your liking -- on the Kuju US signals that's the function DetermineSignalState(), which is nicely commented with explanations in the script.

Before you begin, I'd advise to create a clone of the signal blueprints and scripts so that you won't have to overwrite the originals with your changes.

Thank you Michael. The RCAP signal scripts are in .lua format, so I will give it a whirl. *!!thnx!!*
