Need help with TimeOfDay blueprint.

Unread postby Brickrail782 » Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:47 am

I am attempting to create a route from scratch, and I can't seem to find a TimeOfDay blueprint in the blueprint editor. And assuming I find one, exactly how do I set it up properly?

I noticed this a long while back and come to the conclusion to just copy ToD files from the base DTG/RSC routes and rework them with an XML editor like Notepad++. This has worked for me in the past and I have never seen any comments regarding ToD. I am sure there are others here who may be able to help with setup, but I just read the tag naming and assume and experiment from there. One note: I found the FOG variable to be the distant edge of the far distant haziness, and it has a fairly long distant metric component and a color component, so be careful to make a copy of the original files you use.

Yep, been there, but you see:

No ToDBP present in Editor. And the instructions say TimeOfDay Blueprint.

I don't believe there is a blueprint template for ToD. I copied a set over into my route folder in the Railworks/Source/Producer/Product/TimeOfDay directory. I then opened with RW_Tools and saved the .xml file. You could then use RW_Tools to edit the file or you could then open it with the Blueprint Editor and make whatever changes you wanted to make.

When you export it the file will be placed in your asset folder. Be sure you correctly identify it in your Route Blueprint file as well.

It's called "Sky info BP".

Thanks Kevin, I admit I have been looking for this for years, but never suspected the Sky info BP, so I never looked at it. Thanks again

Would this be legal if I was to release the route as payware?

What I think is this is absolutely fine, JustTrain uses many Kuju files if I recall correctly.

But the Kuju files are pretty much part of the base game. The files that I would be using would come from DTG's Kansas City - Topeka Route.

I don't think it is an issue to be concerned about. The template is established by DTG for how the TimeOfDay blueprint needs to be setup. The range of values for each field in the blueprint have been established by DTG. You are selecting a value within that range.

Would that also apply to textures?

You would have to read the EULA for that piece of the puzzle.
