Laying Track, Specifically Switches

Unread postby USNENFTS » Tue Nov 28, 2017 6:25 pm

Alright fellas, I'm working on a route here in town and I cannot seem to get this one switch to work. All the other switches/crossovers are fine... The pictures explain it all.... Any ideas?

The leg of the crossover needs to connect to the main track over an unbroken section of track ribbon. Those little red triangles show that the main track was made in several segments, or cut and welded back together.

1. Delete the leg of the crossover that isn't connecting properly.

2. Use the split tool to separate a section of the straight track on either side of where the crossover will connect back in. (see picture)

3. Delete the section(s) of straight track you just split from the main ribbon.

4. Lay a new, unbroken section of straight track using the 'snap to track' function.

5. Lay the leg of the crossover again, using 'snap to track'

I hope that helps!

Are you building the old MILW branch to Snoqualmie Falls?

Alrighty, I will give that a try. No, I am building the Montana Sub, which runs from Pocatello, Id to Silver Bow, MT. I am only going to do from Pocatello to Idaho Falls. I wish I was doing the old MILW line, sadly I do not live in that area anymore.
