Need some assets for my route...

Unread postby xxuntitledxx » Wed May 13, 2015 10:41 pm

Hey all,

So progress is moving on in my Lehigh Line route...very slowly...but it's moving...

So I need a few assets if anyone would be willing to help me out? I'd be happy to help them out in any way I can. After all that's what a community is for right?

So I was wondering if anyone had a tank car loading facility for a few tank farms I have.
I also found a few buildings on sketch up's website and was wondering if anyone could help me out with converting them.
I need the IKEA located in Newark, NJ as well as the Newark bay bridge.
I also would need some sort of way to mock up the NJ Transit stations in Roselle Park, NJ and Union, NJ and Bound Brook, NJ... I have some stand ins for now, but something more close to the real thing would be nice, haha.

Anybody have any ideas? FYI, I already reached out to CARex about the Bound Brook Station.

Thanks,

Ken

Ken,

Have you downloaded the NERW Pennsylvania Division route? It is on this site...just search for NERW. There are a lot of good assets in there that are unique to the route but would work for you I think. There's a nice long bridge that you could use for the Newark Bay Bridge (close enough IMO) and some unloading facilities too. The route pretty much has it all. As for the stations, I'm not sure.

Good luck!

Oh yeah and don't forget to give credit if you use the assets!

I might consider building a few buildings, if they're vintage, but you'll have to find me some reference pictures.

Also, I won't convert any buildings, I'll just make new buildings if I do.

...Cheers...

If someone can provide me with photos, I don't mind chipping in with a small building to get some more recent experience in 3d Modelling.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to everyone.

1.) No I haven't downloaded the NERW Route, so I'll have to check it out. Yes, I'll give credit to that and the many other's that have helped me with this.
2.) If you would like to do any asset creation, the help is welcomed as I am not really the best modeler. (I've dabbled in Sketchup but it's not my best work haha.) Please PM me if you would like to do any modelling. I'll give you details that way. I have PLENTY of reference photos and can get more if needed. (Most are from the internet and I can direct you to links.)

So Just an update for you guys....
I found a bunch of models for my route on the google sketchup site... the only thing is that I'd need to convert those models to use in TS2016. Anybody know where I can find a tutorial on how to convert the files? Also, I'm having trouble finding a good stand in for the Tropicana Loading Facility in Jersey City, NJ. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Ken

I do not know about a tutorial, but you would need to open the sketchup-files with sketchup and export them in a file type that is supported by your 3D software, which is able to export to TS (like Blender for example).
At this point there are some tutorials about the rest of the work, but as the files in the sketchup warehouse are likely not textured, you would need a source for these textures and paint them on your own.
