SRTM folder missing?

Unread postby sandpaper90 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 7:32 am

Hello everyone, I am new to RWA, but found this site to be a awesome source for content and information, so I decided to join.

Anywho, I'm undertaking my 1st route build from scratch, but encounter a problem. I know where to get the DEM data I need to import, and have it. Problem is I have no STRM folder in railworks that every how-to thread has? Am I missing something? I have the Steam edition of TS2015. I thought about just "creating" the folder in the place its supposed to be and placing the .DEM files in there, but I was not sure if this would work.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Idk how much time it will take me to get this route done, probably a while, but when it is done, I do plan on sharing it with you all. I plan on modeling the Mineral Range railroad in the U.P of michigan, where I live. So its a local prototype for me. Pretty excited about the project.

Thanks!

The Railworks folder is usually in your steam folder, check before Railworks, you should then find your steam folder.

In your railworks folder there should be a DEM folder. Inside that should be a STRM folder.

If I recall correctly, I had to create the SRTM folder within the DEM folder.

You might be right since I have 'stuff' in there.

You are correct. You do have to make your own STRM folder.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Problem is I checked, and I have neither the DEM or SRTM folder where they should be located? I can not seem to find them.

I gather it should be in the root of your railworks directory, so C:/programfiles(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/railworks and there should be a DEM folder? I don't have one. do I have to make this too?

I believe there was already a DEM folder in my TS installation, but i'm not sure. Give it a try and make a DEM folder, then make an SRTM folder inside.
