Well unfortunately, there is no real established Railworks/TS community in Australia, many have moved on to other things, and attempts to encourage discussion about the game on Railpage have failed. Perhaps there should be a subforum on this forum for Australian TS2015 users, since I have seen a few around the place here.
I have very little trouble getting scenery made in TSM into the game using the import in 3DC 7.0.2 . I've been thinking of importing the Peterborough roundhousethrough 3DC into TS, just to see what kind of a challenge it is, since this item has the most parts/faces of any static scenery item I've done. Peterborough was the biggest challenge I ever faced in MSTS regarding scenery items. The number of custom items reached over 50, including the hotels, shops, railway structures etc. But the effort was worth it, despite the route not making it to release as of yet (through Steam4me). Just the screenshots alone made me feel good about it.
There's a possibility that I may do some of the SAR Northern Narrow gauge system in another sim one day.
I don't mind chipping in a little bit with scenery items if you need a few. Don't let the scenery issue deter you from modelling a route you are otherwise happy to do.
Scenery is pretty easy to get into the sim once you get used to the procedure.
You simply export the item into the Railworks igs format (using 3DC, Blender, 3D studio, or anything else that has this export capability), open the blueprint editor, right click the igs file in the list and select create Scenery Blueprint. Make sure it's in the scenery folder, with textures converted to ace through RWace, ToAce, or Photoshop Elements, and copied into the textures folder. Then fill in the relevant entries in the blueprint, and it should export. If you have any trouble, just post something on this forum, and you should be able to get some help.
Healthy terrain textures are one of the hardest things to get into the game though. I'd recommend giving them a miss for now.
