Help

Unread postby Skeeter39090 » Tue Feb 03, 2015 3:20 pm

Can someone please help me I'm about to pull my hair out....lol
I'm trying to build a old abandoned line that runs through my county. I have watched and read all the tutorials I can find and now I'm stuck seems microdem will not open but every other flt file I download.
Reinstalled microdem downloaded the files from the USGS about 5 times and I still get the same error message.
It does not matter if I try 1 second or 1/3 second data it wont open in microdem some kind of exe. error.

I used microdem as part of the process for getting my DEM files ready for Redem, and it worked fine. I assume you've tried deleting then reinstalling microdem?

Not enough info. What file format are you downloading, and what is the specific EXE error?

FWIW, Microdem was once a pretty good program (last century), but has gotten bloated over the years and still uses those ugly 16-bit icons. Heaven forbid that you run into an issue, as the programmers are less than keen to lend assistance or answer simple questions. Try the following info on my forum for an alternative: http://www.3dtrains.com/forums/index.ph ... ap-viewer/

If all else fails there's SRTM data that is TS can import without conversion. Granted it's 1 arc sec (for the US), but it'll leave your hair intact. :D
Cheers!

First thank you for the responses.
Yep deleated and reinstalled 2 times win 7 and a 3rd time on my old XP laptop. Using the 1/3 float data from the USGS. Im at work today but tomorrow I will post the exact error code when I try to open the flt file.
Prob I'm having is being from the south the line I'm trying to build leaves the main line and crosses a swamp for about 2 miles on trestle and embankment. I tried the 1sec hgt and things just don't work out for me lol.
