Signal Question

Unread postby CSX2057 » Tue Jul 02, 2013 9:44 pm

I'm not sure if this signal was answered already. But I do have a question, Buzz showed me the picture of a signal that goes into the main line. There are 5 switches in front of it, but when I change them the light does not change from red to green. Any idea why? Nothing is occupied.

I was going send that same question to rsc but decided to ask here first since yall know so much. lol

Picture would help.

Based on your description my thoughts are either:

1. something beyond the signal is misaligned.

2. the nodes for the signal itself are not properly placed

Link Placement.. A link MUst be completely within its own track area. That area is defined by the yellow outlines on the track as the cursor is move over the track. No part of the link icon may extend beyond the yellow perimeter. Also, that yellow block must not be part of a junction/switch. If your link location is in a yellow block that is part of the junction use the Split and Weld commands to make a separate block near the switch. If you have AI trains they do not respond to the colored lights (aspects) of the signals. They only get messages from signals ahead of the train about the block that signal guards. It is simply a clear ahead,a red, or a yellow message. A block is defined as the track between a link (looking forward) and the next link. If that area has no trains then you may continue - green posted speed or yellow with caution. The caution shows that the next signal, beyond the one in front of you, is occupied or the junction is set against you. Proceed with caution. Be aware that the technicians at RSC have not uncovered how to recognize naked consists - no locomotive attached. If you have an AI train it can gleefully smash into the consist.

Ok I changed something in the signal.

I place the first arrow way pass the first switch cause thats where the problem all started. I'll explain how the signal did not change due to the first switch so I guess it could not pass all 5 switches so I move the first arrow past the 1 switch bringing it down to 4. That worked. I'll keep figuring out how I can fix this issue. If it fails then thats the only signal I'll use.

Look at those Vids on our site, they are the best signalling tutorials around. Done by Tim McIntosh.
