Here's a video I did going over the article and my first reactions to things listed on the site:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZ6gnO54IWgI feel this is the step in the right direction that DTG needs. Everyone complains and moans that we aren't getting the things that we all want, but quite frankly, I'd rather see them slowly understand how the UE4 works and how they can start incorporating more features and tools without creating loads of bugs and glitches that would break the game.
I also hate the people who continue to complain and say that they could do a better job that DTG. Well heck, go make the sim then and give me something to play in a year! If anything, the more people complain, the less will be done by DTG. At least go give them some constructive feedback.
I personally don't think TSW currently is at its full potential. It has a lot of weird physics and performance issues, but at least this new version of TSW looks to be heading towards the right direction. DTG seems very positive into this upgrade and I feel we are 10-12 months away from 3rd party content creators being able to release content, potential steam workshop integrations, and even the likes of steam locomotives and multiplayer just over a year. It's not all going to come at once, but I feel they are on the right track in making everything work properly.
Not in the mood to really argue this sorta stuff, but happy to politely discuss with the community the news of TSW2 and what it could mean in the future! Excited to buy it and try out the new features and see the team develop!

I understand we all have differing opinions and I'm not here to start an argument, but you cannot point the finger at us who are heavy critics of this company. We have been promised all of this wonderful and new features that would come with the original TSW. Did those ever come? No. Now we are being promised the same stuff under a new name. Will it ever come? Who knows, but based on track record, probably not. I will give DTG credit when they actually deserve it. I'm tired of forking money over to a company that mishandles their operations and cannot take advantage of the resources and community available to them. The community alone makes better stuff than DTG most of the time. I have seen when this game was good. Back when it was RSC. Routes like Marias Pass and Pacific Surfliner. Granted they do not really hold up to the same standard today, but back then, they were great additions. And not to mention, routes like these are having new life being brought into them, because we have a route editor. People in the community have been able to improve and create routes that hold up to today's standards. I know many great content creators who have been able to dig deep and find features and/or commands in the coding that DTG doesn't even use. They implemented it, but simply ignore it. For example, the TruRail MP GP38-2 has coding in it to turn the light casting on in tunnels. This was already coded into the game. In the end, everything has potential. It is only ever successful if used correctly, which is never really the case with DTG. DTG plays it safe and does not take advantage of what is possible. As content creators for this game, we exploit every little thing we can to create a quality product. I do not think TSW2 will ever be a good game. We have grown too used to the freedom and creativity provided in TSX. Apparently the old standard is like I said, old. DTG would rather cater to the arcade style gaming community with this "simulator." Will they ever make a product that can fill the shoes of TSX? Never. They have had years to try and make a product that offers just as much, if not more than what TSX had and have failed. Content creation and third party support is what keeps TSX alive. TSW however, does not have any of this, hence the position we are in now. The game has been far less successful than TSX and they keep handing us empty promises.

I am a big fan of TSW and really enjoy running trains on it. I am all in for TSW2 and can't wait to try my hand at making custom scenarios.

You mean the ones that only you can use? since you cant share them at all. on top of that all it looks like is just the quick drive stuff we've already had.

Still looks and feels like an arcade game, perfect for the console kiddies.
Hats of to DTG they finally found their market for TSW. And still no 3rd party dlc can be added, only a few reskins.
Note - The Livery Designer and Scenario Planner do not have sharing options on any platform, so your designs are personal to you alone
Remember Flight Sim World, FSW, the next big flight sim from DTG. Thought long and hard to commit to it from FSX Steam, bought DLCs, then nah we are closing it! Sorry! Went through the same process with TSW, they won't do it again, surely

I enjoy TSW for what it is and don’t get too caught up in what it isn’t. That’s why I still use TS2020, and use it more often than TSW, but TSW fills a niche in my train simming. I’m going into TSW2 with an open mind.
I still can’t wrap my head around not being able to share scenarios or repaints though. If it’s a cross platform issue then make it PC only. Completely closed ecosystems are bad news for sims like this, so hopefully they can at least open these two items up for sharing, and make it possible for people to more easily switch out things like horn sounds etc, things that are easily done in most sims.

I believe DTG has once shared their plans of creating their own online experience and store front for their games. There is some DTG Live integration in TSW IIRC.
Most of the editing, modifying and sharing stuff problems probably pertain to EU4's DRM and cooking process.
Perhaps later?

It was a futile attempt at positive discussion. I give up. Have at it!

On top of that. DTG themselves have confirmed that the editor will never exist. so no creation tools for us. TSW is dead in many of our eyes. now.

The only way you can get any sort of "editor" is if you are on their kiss butt list, and can make them money. So no freeware routes will ever be made for this game, no freeware content for this game ever. (unless its released by DTG themselves.)

Maybe Microsoft will release a new version of Train Simulator!

Until then, guess I will have to be happy with what DTG gives us.

Well... you know how Microsoft said they were done with Flight Simulation back in 2006.. FSX was supposed to be the last... now there is Flight Simulator 2020 in the making... never say never

So that confirms it. TSW(2) is a complete white elephant.
All that anticipation and viewing of screenshots was nothing but a waste of my time.
Unless MS release a new trainsim program, I won't hold my breath on it. They made two failed attempts at MSTS 2. The second one was abandoned just weeks before it was due to release from what I heard.
It would be logical for MS to start from scratch and work from the ground up in regards any new train sims. And this time, we need reassurance that will actually be released. These games are like a lolly out of a packet to Microsoft. If it's got the tiniest stain/mark/debris on it, then they throw it out completely.
In my opinion, these TSW subforums are a complete waste of space. It should be placed amongst the other trainsim games that this forum is not the centre of focus on. DTG has let the community down here with their console focus. A train sim game on a PS\'Xbox' is like virtual reality on a Gameboy. I wonder if they'll release for Nintendo as well?

Ah no editor
don't hold your breath XD
DTG not allowing third party content allows them to control the content...which I believe is one of the main reasons for not releasing it to the public
