I’m sure the freight fans are excited for this release but it seems like another odd, truncated choice for a North American route. Why not cover the entire run out of Toronto so passenger and freight fans alike could run what they want? As it is, this release appeals mainly to freight enthusiasts, which seems like a missed opportunity. With the upcoming release of the Caltrain MP36 and bombardier cars, this could have made a logical future DLC expansion for the CN route if the equipment is reskinned and tweaked for GO operations.

I’m going to assume that we will still see GO equipment come down the line within a few months. But if there are only 4 intermediate passenger stations between Hamilton and Oakville to stop at, I’m going to pass like I’ve passed on the NEC Newark-New Rochelle route.

Looks promising, as I'm strictly a freight operations fan. Again, I'll let John Q. Customer run it for a few weeks and get the pro's and con's before I buy.

Wow, if there's one route I was hoping for, this is it. The Oakville Sub is what sparked my love of trains as a kid (albeit I lived on a section not planned for this route - Port Credit). Hopefully we'll see some GO equipment in the future - we basically have the bones for these coming up in the Baby Bullet DLC.

Yeah it would be amazing if you could take GO/VIA services all the way into Toronto, maybe in the future that could be an expansion, but is still a hugely exciting day for me!

From Oakville, the line proceeds southwesterly near the shore of Lake Ontario, via Bronte, Burlington, Aldershot, and famed Bayview Junction to Hamilton. Hamilton is a beehive of railroading activity, home to multiple yard complexes, connecting point with CN’s Grimsby Subdivision, and host to the Port of Hamilton’s massive and bustling Industrial Sector that is laced with active rail lines and sidings.

Oakville - Hamilton I gather, perhaps few road miles but lots of track miles?

Automotive, steel, grain/agricultural, petrochem and ethanol and general tonnage (- merchandise, so boxcars?) means no new car types but perhaps a game play of delivery/pickups and loading/unloading?

I'll too wait and see what this actually means in practical game play.

Wow... looks promising. I'm sure there will be future expansions if there is enough support for the route. Good to see a freight concentric route again. It's been a long time coming.

Gary... if you have any influence with the DTG... please... please push them to include more paint schemes with their rolling stock. For this CN release, there is no reason why the CSX paint schemes can't be included so there is some variety to the train sets. They also have UP, BNSF, and NS licensing... so include those paint schemes. If DTG really wants to sell TSW freight routes, they need to include variety. Little things like that will help set TSW above Train Simulator, and maybe DTG will pull more new true train simmers over.

And Gary... that motive power needs to be released for Train Simulator. Would fit perfectly on the Peace River route, not to mention as transfer power for the Chicago Racetrack route.

I don't know the track millage, but it's about 20 miles in length by car according to google maps. I'm not huge on this route because it's pretty short, but I'm a freight guy.... so I most likely will pick this up at some point.

Anyway, this is TSW so there is nothing of interest for me here.

Some specifics:

- The route will extend from Oakville Yard (on the CN Oakville Sub) to Parkdale Yard in Hamilton on the Grimsby Sub. This is ~22 miles on the Oakville Sub’s multi-track main line.

- Key yards on this portion of the CN line include Oakville Yard, Aldershot Yard (junction point with the CN Halton Sub), Hamilton West Harbor Yard, Hamilton Parkdale Yard, and several handling yards within the Hamilton Harbor’s Industrial Sector.

- Junction points include Aldershot (with CN Halton Sub), Bayview Junction (with CN Dundas Sub), Hamilton Junction (with CP Hamilton Sub), and Parkdale (with CN Grimsby Sub to/from the U. S.).

- The route has a number of served lineside industries, including the Ford assembly plant at Oakville, industries around Burlington, and multiple industries within the Hamilton Industrial Sector, which range from manufacturing to chemicals to steel (Hamilton accounts for more than a third of Canada’s steel production).

- The Hamilton Industrial Sector (real life) appears in the attached OpenStreetMap map.

Thanks for the input on the map. I hope the route builders don't have countless switches locked as on all other routes.
Still waiting for some sort of editor. I would like to use equipment from other routes and make my own scenarios.

The vast majority of the switches in the yards and Hamilton Industrial District, etc., are manual throw.

I am really looking forward to this! I am an operator, and the power looks great! I hope to se a Dundas add-on, as well as some SD40's! Growing up on the Flint Sub in the 70's in Michigan, anything CN or GTW is welcomed by be. In the "Old MSTS" days, I was a big Mapleleaf Tracks, purchaser, and this was one of the areas they modeled. Maybe, some of that stuff.....at least information, was used. I already "pre-purchased"....so...here we go!!
