Until they come up with some route tools for the Sandpatch route, so I can add industry and some sidings, I'm through with the sim. !*not-ok*!

this will create a blip in the otherwise flat-line of failure without any tools.

Very short route:
HST non stop Paddington to Reading = 25 mins.
Stopping Class 166 "Turbo" service = around an hour.
Freight somewhere in between, presumably the Brentford and Colnbrook branches aren't included (nor the passenger branches to Greenford, Windsor, Marlow and Henley). Also no Heathrow Airport branch.

This is also a route currently undergoing a massive transition in RL with electrification now extended to Maidenhead, soon to reach Reading, new Class 387 EMU's to replace the diesel Class 165/166, Crossrail in a couple of years and the new IEP Hitachi hybrid electro-diesel units for long distance services. Has any of this been captured?

Question mark on trainset physics, the default Kuju HST was actually quite reasonable in RS/RW. Class 166 relied on the somewhat unrealistic max speed in each throttle setting and Class 66, well if it emulates the diesel style as applied in CSX it will not be accurate.

Unlikely to be an early or Day 1 purchase for me, given so many issues still outstanding with CSX and still no news on editors, even just for activities.

I bought it, since it was only the equivalent of 3 beers at the pub. It will likely last that long also, given the shortness. Interesting to find out what DTG made of 'passenger operations'.

Is there a practical limit as to the size of the "world" in UE4? This route is likely to be more complex and dense compared to CSX? So less track miles but more assets?

I agree. Even though it's short, you get value for money. At route, three loco's, a number of scenarios and service mode, which should be good for say 20 different rides. That the route is short is an advantage, I think. For sandpatch the average ride is a bit long into my opinion.

I have somehow missed learning the computer-ese term "Amps", so I'd like someone to explain it to me. My only knowledge of it is as an abbreviation for amperes, which I doubt it means in computer speak.

Thanks.

I believe he is talking about amp guage in the cab. It does not show very good readings when throttling. Same when you use it for the dynamic brake.

DTG should have some real drivers they can get to Beta test their stuff.

Saying that I have got it and I think their stuff is top notch.

They claim to have input from real engineers but those "real engineers" must not have more than 5 miles at the stand.

Thanks, Bob -- that makes sense now.

Everything I've ever heard about how DTG does things makes me suspect they did get a whole bunch of input from real engineers and then ignored all of it and did whatever they wanted.
