So since there have supposedly been about 16,000 D/L that means each person has run 10 scenarios? Maybe started. I think this is just more Russian disinformation. !*roll-laugh*! !*roll-laugh*!

More statistics, for what they are worth: http://steamcharts.com/app/530070#7d

I don't count, since I play TSW offline on four computers at once sometimes to compare performance *!embar*!

Still it shows that casual players probably have had their fill of TSW?

I persevere, for I want TSW to become a good railroad simulation.

Yes quite a few people play offline. I wonder how many people have stopped playing because they have done everything ?

Or just gone back to 2017 which is rich in choices of routes, scenery and rolling stock.

Yes they would do if they have completed everything in TSW.

SteamSpy gives a figure of those who have registered this game on their Steam accounts so far, after exactly 14 days, as being just under 23,000, is this the figure that Mr. Jackson wanted to see, I wonder?

http://steamspy.com/app/530070

And if you want to know how accurate the data SteamSpy offer is, within the gaming industry, this article from February 2017 allows Industry spokespeople to offer their honest views.

The number of initial purchases seems quite low, but many abstained from purchasing because there was no local content and/or no editor in the startup release of TSW.

Numbers will pick up for sure when DTG does a decent job on its first UK route and trains, ditto for Germany. UK is a bit of a dilemma: classic steam trains or the modern plastic ones? What will attract the most buyers?

I suspect the 1 mio of TSxx purchases is all previous versions carried forwards. Is each individual DLC listed as such or included in the total sales of TSxx?

Anyway, statistics is only numbers. If you are pleased with the game why not enjoy it to the full? There is bound to come more in the next months ...
At Euro 24 I don't feel bad for purchasing TSW, despite my initial disappointment. Perhaps expectations too high?
And it is good to see DTG making progress in improving the beta, now there are paying customers involved.

Like any new game, some people just play them to find all the faults with it instead of enjoying what you have. I am one of latter. :D

Don't get me wrong I do find faults and report them, but some do deliberately play a new game just to find faults. I play a new game to enjoy it which I'm doing with TSW warts and all. :D

I grew bored with it very quickly.

While the engines and rolling stock are superbly modeled in great detail. The rest of the assets do not do the unreal engine very much justice.

That and this is just my opinion. But seems who ever builds these routes, lacks an eye for detail or just does not have the patience needed to give the scenery the attention it deserves.

They say an editor for route creation etc is still in development. Hopefully there will be much more added by DTG. I am begging and pleading here that 3rd party deploys more assets/models and rolling stock for us to use in our creations.

I wouldn't count on it. It has been getting progressively more difficult to find useful assets in DLC, they are either built as a custom block (even bridges) or locked down in some way. The company went through a phase of offering useful add-ons such as the UK building pack or Project Platform, but in the case of the former withdrawn and kind of only available if you purchase a route which includes them. In the case of the latter, withdrawn due to "issues". Heck Matt Peddlesen told me years ago we would be getting re-nameable station signs which never materialised.

So don't count on there being anything other than the assets used to build whatever routes exist if/when we see the SDK and that not all of those are useable in our own projects.

I do not want to derail the conversation but..

The buildings asset pack was an anomaly that I made, it did not really have a home. A new user would get it and not know what to do with it. The pack was given away with so many routes that the numbers we had showed that a very high percentage of our users owned it.
Phorum was complicated (and I know because I made it happen) because it had assets that were donated so we could raise money for a good cause. That came to an end and we took it off sale. As it contained assets that were not ours we did not want to profit from other peoples work and nor would it have been right. To also remove and put back out would have also been a fair amount of work which we did not have the band width at the time.

Dynamic station boards we did try and get working, and you could if you bent the rules and used number boards instead, but it was a hack and not ideal.
I really would have loved to have a cool set of tools for those that could not make assets, but again the bandwidth to create them was not there.

I agree the more professional tools were really for those who had the ability to make their own assets, casual route builders relied on what was available or reskinned.

TSW will evolve in it's own way over time but the hobby creative people will be able to enjoy TSW just as much as the drivers do.

cheers

Appreciate the clarification Derek, I knew the situation with "PP" was complex so simply referred to issues.

I suspect the concern many have about TSW is that whereas you could knock together station signs etc. fairly easily in 3D Canvas, we won't have that luxury with TSW once it gets to that stage. I know DTG have to tread a fine line between supplying too much material so no-one ever needs to buy a commercial DLC and not having too few assets in the default content it's impossible to start even a simple project. Hopefully a balance can be struck.
