Wrong expectations?

I'm not sure if this story was posted here or not but this quote and the discussion in other threads has me wondering if it's the wrong idea to expect TSW to be TS2017 on the UE4 engine with similar features regarding content creation.
As the folks at Dovetail explain, "Train Simulator [has always been] more of a model railway or hobby experience, whereas Train Sim World has the player represented as a virtual character that can interact with the world."

As I posted in the TSW discount thread: I believe we have the answer to many questions about TS20xx versus TSW with this quote -
“Train Simulator is more of a model railway or hobby experience whereas Train Sim World has the player represented as a virtual character that can interact with the world.”
Now we know TSW is more akin to a FPS (scenarios, accomplishments, badges, etc) while TS20xx is the train simulator the community is more accustomed to (mods, repaints, reskins, etc)

Right ... that's the same quote I saw.
It's what got me wondering if it's missing the mark to view TSW as a much improved simulator and visual upgrade in the way TS20xx was upgraded each year. It seems that TSW may be a significant enough departure from the previous approach and some of the comparisons or expectations, and associated negativity, could be way off or undeserved.
Anyway, we'll know the answer to many questions in a couple of days.

I've been wondering what Saturday is going to be about. I heard someone say that while the other days this week are largely about work, with some downtime for various recreational activities after, Saturday may be a significant departure, with a LOT more time for household chores and more time for recreational activities, and less focused on work, at least for some of us. I'm wondering if it will even be the same kind of "day" we've been used to. Sure, it still has the word "day" in the name and all, but I don't mind admitting I've been fretting about it a good bit. So I thought, since this thread seems to be about fretting about the possible radical departure of an impending experience we have a fair bit of information about suggesting it will largely be the same, I'd join in with my needless anxiety I could just wait a few days to resolve.
Unless I'm grossly mistaken, these two programs are "train simulators." Scenarios, however FPSsy, are kind of a central part of TS20xx, and I don't give a squat about "mods, repaints, and reskins" in either.
You say potato....
