Less than minimum requirements computer

I did a quick read through the posts on this topic and did not see a similar question, so I am posting this:

What happens and how will Train Sim World run if I don't have a computer that meets the minimum requirements.

My processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2400 @3.1Ghz
My Graphics card is AMD Radeon HD 6450

I would require a new power supply to update my graphics card and I estimated the total cost at around $800

If the new Sim will run at all on my computer, I would buy it because it is only $39.99 ($35.99 if pre-ordered)

I don't think you will have an enjoyable time running it, if it even loads at all (depends on if your graphics card is DX11 capable.) I wouldn't buy TSW without some upgrades if I were you.

I think there will be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth over the min specs required. I am sure like me, there are plenty out there that can run TS quite well (i7 second gen with 560Ti GPU for me) that don't even make minimum spec for this thing. Train simmers are not hard core gamers and don't tend have the latest and greatest eye bleeding graphics GPU's or CPU's. I am probably looking at at 3k investment in a new pc, by the time I do GPU and power supply and then find it doesn't fit in the case
I can see this getting old real quick. No tools and I am imagining the build process for content, when available, is likely to be beyond the realm of the non-professional studio. It takes Mike about a year to produce content to TS standard (and a magnificent job he does too) and then look at TSW and its magnitudes of greater detail.

Maybe if something comes along that isnt modern boxes it "might" be worth contemplating, but for now I will just sit on the platforms edge and spot

Prices on current nvidia cards might drop now that the awesome 1080 TI has been revealed. Been saving money for a beast like that for some time now.

Regarding OP question. I think performance on a system like that will be like it was in the TSW Beta, terrible. ( the Beta was not optimized ) but still...

I agree with Denny, a lot depends on your definition of reasonable. For some it's under $500 for some it's under $5,000. What's your comfort level Dick?

All I have to add, is that the minimum specs, even on the existing sim TS 2017 are an outdated joke. They are still talking Core 2 Duo etc. Not even close to adequate.

In all honestly, a person would be looking at something like a i5-6600 or one of these new Ryzen R5/R3chips for TS2017 with a GTX1050 at least. I'm talking new build.

Based on what was going on with the TSW Beta, I'm guessing a six core processor with high IPC and at least a GTX1060 or AMD RX480. Those two GPUs are pretty close in performance right now. High IPC meaning Ryzen or i7.
IE I suspect TSW will run best on a CPU costing about $300 U.S.

That $800 figure seems awful high. What are you going to buy to do this? Also be aware that you need 9.5"+ of clear space to mount any of the GGXT1*** cards.

You are right, I don't know where I determined that it would be $800 when I looked at it a couple of years ago. I just talked to a computer repair service here in Louisville, KY and he will only charge $65 to evaluate and install a graphics card and power supply. I see that a gtx 1050 ti is about $140 and a 700W power supply can be had for $40, so that is the way I am going to go.

There may be other problems when he looks at the box, but I feel that even if I need a new box this will not be an unreasonable way to go.

I just said that because I had a GTX960 before and tons of room. I had to move everything around to make room for the 1060 and I think all the 1000 series are about this size.

I've got a Radeon R9 270X that I've used for three years (2 GB), but I'll probably pick up a new Radeon 8GB RX-480 pretty soon. At $250, it seems like a pretty good runner. It's probably comparable to the GeForce 1060, because while it has 2 GB more, it is less optimized.

Well, the story is not as rosy as I first thought. I looked at prices for a GTX 1050, thinking that if it had a higher number than 970, it must be better. I am so very wrong. the 970 is a much faster gpu than the 1050 and costs $600 on Amazon. It is still cheaper than paying $1500 for an Alienware computer, so that is the way I am going. I also did some nosing around on the web and have come to the conclusion that Dell purposely makes updates to the cpu not possible. When I meet with my computer builder, I will ask him if it is possible to update to a faster cpu and what other updates I may need to make. I am also getting a 600W power supply, as mine is currently only 460W.

I did some more looking around and determined that the 1070 is better than the 970 and is cheaper, so I cancelled the 970 and ordered the 1070. I deal with Amazon, because they have a very good return policy, and I am not sure how this is all going to turn out.

I have a GTX1060 3gig and it runs TS2017 smooth as silk and it about half of what the 1070 is. I have a i7 and a 600 watt power supply and it works just fine.
