Seems like a good batch for the release. I wanna take some AC44's and haul a long intermodal train over the route now *!greengrin!*

Most of those look pretty familiar, don't they?

The six freight car types to be initially included with Sand Patch were chosen based on typical freight commodity flows over the route, which include coal, intermodal, autos, bulk dry commodities and aggregates, bulk liquids and chemicals, etc. Each car is modeled on a specific contemporary type as detailed in the article. More content is planned for post-release.

Do those brakehoses look allright? IMO they're too short, just like in the beta.

They also look too short to me! Must say the freight cars do look very nice overall.

What are the correct coupler types on double stack cars and on tank cars?

Single shelf (bottom) and double shelf I thought. DTG now have the chance to do it right first time -and- provide themselves with correct couplers for any future rolling stock.

Here are some references:

http://www.columbuscastings.com/couplers_yokes.html has dimensional drawing PDF's of all the different types.

Several of those screen shots show two cars coupled together with their brake hoses connected -- so how can the hoses be too short? !*don-know!*

From my experience in the real world, as long as a joint is made, there's no hose too short. If there is, most engines have a small 2-foot extension hose.

I love how everyone's standards always move up automatically... like, before this we haven't even had hoses that appear attached most of the time (if they're even modeled at all.) Now we have actual hoses, with actual hose physics, that hook up on the fly and they're "too short." LOL I do appreciate the strive for always being more accurate though. Just thought it was funny :)

To be fair, their "hose physics" are far too jiggly. MU cables and hoses don't have anywhere near that much jiggle to them, just a bit of sway on the MU hoses since they just hang loosely to begin with. Cables and Brake Pipe hoses, not so much.

Yes. They are high definition versions of what we've been running, which is why there aren't any articulated well cars.
The box car looks really nice, almost like some of Larry's work. *!greengrin!*

I can't help but think, this route is current ( I think...) so why is the motive power the same old??? IE I can see a SD40-2 for yard work and locals, but there is no current EMD or GE power.
They said TS stuff can't be imported, but I'm getting suspicious that at least the textures can be and then new physics applied, with a few textures and details added.

Hmmmmmmm... !!det!!

Don't worry Tom, some people just have hose envy...

Love the reporting mark on the tanker... it says it's privately owned by Dovetail Games. !*roll-laugh*!

Is an AC4400CW not new enough for ya? !!bang!! *!lol!* Unless if you mean something like a newer GEVO or Tier 4?
To be honest I'm happy with what they're giving us, but since I've never been to the actual Sandpatch route itself, I dont wanna complain about the 40-2...could've been spotted frequently.
Whatever, this is just the initial release. More is bound to come for sure *!greengrin!*
