Train Sim World: CSX Heavy Haul Developer Diary 2

It seems to me that the whole purpose of a game-themed forum is to talk about the game.
But maybe I understand wrong. I'm easily confused.

Yes, I remember that thread :)
Your post wasn't the one I was replying too, though.

Trust me, I know myself quite well, after all these years, and when I say I'll be happier with the new sim, you can believe it.

I have no clue what you are talking about about anyone getting all worked up. Did you somehow check your sense of humor at the door? I have a couple of PM's from folks thinking I should have named a few more people. I put the laughing symbol at the end of the post for a reason.

I am sure you will be thrilled with the new sim. Some of us are just pretty happy with what we have and are a bit skeptical about this new one. Are we not allowed an opinion?

Yes, you are. Here's how you would express such an opinion: "I'm happy with what we've got and am skeptical about the new sim."

What you said instead is that none of us will be thrilled with the new sim longer than a few minutes, because there's nothing there to be thrilled about, and we'll all soon be grumbling about what it lacks. So, to get a good head start, you've been grumbling about what it lacks all through these threads even before it gets here.

It's what I should expect from you, of course. You're a world class grumbler. You always grumble. !*roll-laugh*!

See, I put a laughy emoticon at the end of mine too.

this topic has no chill.
In my opinion, my issue isn't really the way the game works, it's the routes.
I have a bit of a bias when it comes to routes in train sim. If I don't see Bluebirds, Minutemen, the big G, or the globe, then that lowers my chance of getting it. I love New England, I love New England themed routes. Redirect me to Train Sim world when the Northeast comes into play.

No matter what TSW is going to leave some people, heck, most people unhappy as it was for TS201x. The United States is 3,119,884.69 square miles on the lower 48. What percentage of that has any possibility of being built. Commercially, as it is today, it will be those lines that are viable as a return on the developer time, that will be built ... period. I can tell you what will be built, again, as it was in TS. Amtrak, anything anywhere Amtrak, UP will be rebuilt, BNSF will be built, NS down In the Cumberland Gap will be built, the NE corridor will be built. Why, because its well known. Just as before. There vast majority of rail in the US will never be virtually rendered. It cant be. Add Europe and DTGs home country (they have an amazing base for miniature rail - and serious too!) More of continental Europe will be build that what they will do in the US. There is simply not enough time. So in the end, TSW will be magnificent for those fortunate enough to have their home roads built. And for those that are unfortunate their cries are the basis and cause of what Buzz predicts.

You want a solution? Lets do one within the parameters of what is rather than what could be. We have a software company that has dedicated lifetimes worth of time and a mountain of funding to realize their dream. Yes you and I could do the same. But lets find a 'middle' way, a way that can increase the probability of route diversity so more may see what they have only dreamed of. The way is to expand the numbers of dedicated artisans that can build on this platform, design, develop and perfect routes of their whim and have the opportunity to share with the world at large and for both the developer and the artisan to share in the those rewards. Profits of which go, in part, to improve the product, expand the modeled word and to compensate those who desire to do so. Its the free market solution. If the developer can have a piece of the pie - freelance artists will be allowed and encouraged to build. The customer, the some time dreamer, those who want a glimpse back into their childhood and the rest will happily spend a small amount to capture for their personal amusement a taste of the world's railways.

Build your dream gentlemen!

Due to the licensing issue they have had with BNSF, Santa Fe etc you might not see any of those. Armstrong Power House are having issues over licensing rights with Virgin trains and have had to remove all Virgin branding from their downloads. http://armstrongpowerhouse.com/ it is mentioned on their FB page. https://www.facebook.com/armstrongpowerhouse

Here's the latest preview. Looks good to me. Of coarse, I'm giving them time to get it right.

I think that's a bit overkill though tbh. You'd never refill your own locomotive as an engineer. Perhaps that's something people might enjoy whenever they're not actually driving an engine but instead work around it in the shops. Just my own **!!2cents!!**

Engineers bring their locos to a service track and that's that. We don't fuel them, load in sand, or any of that.

One thing that confused me was the collection of hard hats and posters during the video. Wonder why a train sim would need that. !**duh*!!
